Security Advisor, Physical Security

Purpose
Assist to develop, implement, maintain and execute Physical Security policy, standards and protocols enterprise-wide.
Consistently assess ongoing threat and risk to all personnel, assets and operations and recommend best practice security counter-measures to prevent and mitigate such risk.
Provide ongoing guidance, direction and advice to all platforms and business units regarding physical security issues and best practices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate as a member of committees to provide advice regarding physical security. Interact with RBC business units, facility managers, landlords or other stakeholders to review and recommend appropriate physical security measures to reduce risk or threat against facilities.
  • Provides immediate response and/or support when criminal or terrorist attacks occur against RBC Financial Group premises worldwide.
  • Liaise with and provide assistance to law enforcement and other emergency response teams. Keep abreast of criminal trends to identify current and future potential risks to RBC personnel and assets.
  • Analysis of pre-event circumstances and follow-up implementation of counter-measures for future mitigation.
  • Provides assistance and advice to offices abroad with regards to assessment of security situations and solutions.
  • Provide security support, as required, for Board Meetings or any other special meetings, where Senior RBC Executives are in attendance.
  • Actively participate in the development of security standards, policies and procedures designated to reduce security threats and risks against employees, assets and premises. Ensure that all of these are applied within RBC’s facilities.
  • Interact with CRE, CB Richard Ellis and landlords to review and implement appropriate physical security measures to reduce risk of criminal threat against RBC Financial Group.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
TECHNICAL
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively deal at all levels in relation to security procedures and the ability to manage and provide clear direction to employees and consultant staff on all matters of Domestic and International Security issues.
  • Sound organizational skills and the ability to manage a number of diverse projects or situations concurrently.
  • Must have an understanding of technical and electronic security systems available for use in the security field.
  • A strong understanding of the Bank’s structure and operations is essential.
  • Must possess good analytical skills, effective problem solving abilities, coupled with good judgment and discretion, in order to provide immediate direction and counsel in emergency situations and to negotiate/maintain good security practices throughout the Bank worldwide.
  • Must have an understanding of integrated computer access control systems including CCVE and other electronic surveillance, monitoring and detection devices.
  • Must keep abreast of criminal trends to identify current and future potential risks to physical property of RBC Financial Group.

Required:
  • 5 years of experience and/or a Certified Protection Professional “CPP” or PSP “Physical Security Professional” designation is required to ensure that the candidate has gained the overall security knowledge to fill the role.
Preferred:
  • Post Secondary education from a recognized college or university.
  • CISSP “Certified Information Systems Security Professional” – Industry recognized security designation.
