Job Description
The Senior Manager, Global Corporate Security, is responsible for protecting Amazon.com's people, property, assets, and ideas at all Corporate sites globally.As a key member of the Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) team, the Senior Manager, Global Corporate Security, is responsible for creating the physical security strategy, policy, and design and providing related security support and services for Amazon, as well as Amazon Affiliate Corporate and Development Offices globally. The Senior Manager, Global Corporate Security, is also responsible for conducting both security tests and audits (structural and process); driving security innovations in building design to create a safe and secure work environment, as well as the related use of security devices and implementation of security processes; overseeing all aspects of security operations, including physical security technology, operations, investigations, intelligence, training, major events, standard and special field-based guard deployments, and a 24/7/365 Corporate control center; leading a team of security managers; supporting the various facility, real estate and internal customers that select, design, construct and utilize corporate facilities, development centers and other sites deemed as the responsibility of Amazon GREF team; work collaboratively and effectively with numerous vendors to lead and manage the highest quality security services, systems and products.
This position is based in Seattle, WA and reports to the Senior Manager, Corporate Business Assurance, Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF).
As the Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Amazon’s Corporate Global Real Estate and Facility (GREF) team, the Sr. Manager is expected to create, implement and verify security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with our IT and Physical Security Policies, and support the goals of our facility team while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of security at our facilities. This includes leveraging technology and systems to create processes and support systems that are sustainable and scalable. These systems and processes should enable the local and regional security, as well as site security facilitators/managers, to draw services from the Corporate Security team in a straightforward and effective manner at all times.
The Sr. Manager should also be able to:
Demonstrate an effective, communicative and collaborative leadership and management style, and be capable of working well with varied internal customers and vendors on wide-ranging, complex and long-term projects
Interpret architectural drawings and blue prints for the purpose of applying, reviewing and approving company security designs that comply with physical security and IT security standards
Work jointly with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and other stakeholders, drafting Scopes of Work, Project Bidding Packages and Project Budgets; maintaing effective long-term control of multiple projects; demonstrated capacity for controllership
Complete and/or coordinate the Final Test and Acceptance of site security systems that leverage our access control systems.
Identify and Prequalify Security Integrators across the globe
Understand the value of using metrics to improve individual, team, system, and site performance; establish and implement effective, predictable and measurable procedures/processes that can be communicated clearly among stakeholders
Work with all stakeholders, including supervisors and wide-ranging internal customers to communicate objectives, advance projects, develop consensus, communicate clearly, adjust flexibly, and drive projects and performance to positive outcomes, within planned timelines and budgets
Oversee the standard operating procedures for designs, configuration and implementation solutions of security system installations, upgrades, repairs and change outs; change control management.
Advance site security awareness and training programs for Corporate sites globally
Ensure security system designs and specifications meet requirements to properly interface with our access control system and other impacted IT systems and support requirements. Coordinate with various Global Security, IT support teams and business unit/site support teams.
Support actively an integrated Business Assurance model of operations, including Security, Safety and Resiliency programming; partner extensively with Facilities and Real Estate, as well as Corporate Travel, and Finance Operations, as well as other Security-related programs throughout the company
Support and participate in Lean Six Sigma activities throughout the company.
Research, develop and test a variety of equipment, components, products and systems with the goal of fully optimizing and leveraging our investments in a cost-effective manner.
Basic Qualifications
10 + years of increasingly progressive professional experience in one or all of the following disciplines; corporate security management, security and asset policy development, transportation/supply chain security, guard force utilization, and investigations
7+ years as a security manager in a multi-location corporate environment.
7 + years of experience in managing the operation and installation of global physical security systems, including experience in writing design specifications and standards, technical manuals and procedures, and developing and delivering training programs
Bachelor's Degree degree (or higher) in related field; e.g., Business, International Security, Security Management or equivalent
Experience as a Physical Security Project Manager for large, complex, installations, is a must
Experience with the Security Integrator Industry
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
Proficiency in suite of Microsoft office applications
Ability to travel globally 30-40% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or Master's in a related field
Customer-focused and results-oriented leader that possesses strong influencing skill and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment.
Proven ability to work with and effectively persuade facility site leaders and senior management.
Analytical leader experienced in performance based, action and results oriented management, strong project manager and effective problem-solver.
CPP, PSP or CISSP Certification
Certified in use of either S2 or Lenel Access Control Systems.
Training in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
Experience in working with both local access control systems to an enterprise wide versions
Experience in converting from local access control systems to an enterprise wide system.
Lean Six Sigma and/or Green/Black Belt Certified
French, Germany, Chinese or Japanese language skills are a plus.
