Overview: |
Armed Security Officers are expected to protect property on military installations from theft or damage, or persons from hazards or interference. Duties involve, but are not limited to, working from a fixed post where they are required to identify personnel entering military installations, search vehicles for contraband and other prohibited items, detain violators for law enforcement, determine and apply appropriate response and level of force; exercise sound judgment and use discretion in dealing with emergencies, difficult situations, unpredictable circumstances and security violations; assist visitors and customers by answering questions and giving directions; demonstrate proficiency in the use of firearms and other special weapons and continuing physical fitness; complete specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting security areas; perform other tasks as directed by management/Shift Supervisor. Environmental Demands of Employment: • Exposure to all extremes of weather • Work in close proximity to moving vehicles and heavy machinery • Perform duties during reduced visibility • Exposure to vehicle exhaust, common pollens and grasses in close proximity • Indirect exposure to Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray is possible Physiological Demands of Position: • Reach, climb, bend, stoop during vehicle and cargo inspections • Stand for extended periods of time (8 hours or more) • Wear standard Police equipment, weighing in excess of 10 pounds, (Body Armor, duty belt with pistol & holster, hand irons, OC Spray, radio, baton) while on duty. Carry additional weapons, to include rifles and shotguns. • Manual dexterity to safely operate all assigned standard police equipment; direct traffic and handle identification documents presented by the public. • Visual acuity to examine small print typical of government issued identification and ability to match written physical descriptions with identification photos and actual persons • Ability to run in pursuit of, and forcibly restrain, combative individuals • Must maintain ability to qualify (semi-annual requirement), effectively and accurately employ assigned weapon(s) • Must be able to meet the Physical Fitness Standard on a daily basis (annual requirement) MALE PERSONNEL: Complete a 1 mile run within 12 minutes Complete 18 Army standard push-ups, in one attempt, within 2 minutes Complete 27 Army standard sit-ups, in one attempt, within 2 minutes FEMALE PERSONNEL: Complete a 1 mile run within 12 minutes Complete 12 Army standard push-ups, in one attempt, within 2 minutes Complete 27 Army standard sit-ups, in one attempt, within 2 minutes Psychological Demands of Position: • Work rotating shifts • Ability to function while exposed to distracting noises • Able to communicate effectively with the public to include during tense situations in a potentially dangerous environment • Ability to remain calm under pressure. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (EOE M/F/D/V) 1. U.S. Citizen 2. At least 21 years of age 3. Speak, Read and Write English 4. Pass the medical, physical, and reliability requirements (Will be addressed during the initial interview process) - Physical exam conducted by medical authority - Drug Test - Physical Agility Test 5. Shall undergo security screening process (Background Checks) - Local Area Criminal/Court file check - Army Crime Records Center (ACRC) Check - National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Check - Former Employers - Financial Credit History 6.
