Required Education and Experience:
High School education or equivalent and law enforcement training. Five (5) years of experience in a security or law enforcement field. Valid Driver License. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Must have exceptional public relations skills and be able to operate intense environments. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in criminal Justice or related field. Experience as a licensed police officer, experience as a security or police officer in higher education; prefer supervisory experience. Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education training.Job Detail:
Works with Director of Security Administration to develop, implement and coordinate security procedures and protocols. Ensures the campus is adequately protected with appropriate number of security officers depending on the event and actions on the campus. Keeps security officers time and approves AL/SL for all Bryan Campus Security Officers.
TAMHSC Bryan Campus Security is responsible for campus shipping and receiving, parking, parking administration and enforcement, and mail; the Security Manager will provide hands-on working leadership in these areas. Assist new guests to locate their destination
Works closely with local law enforcement (Bryan Police TAMU Police, Brazos County Sheriff Office and local Constables etc.) to ensure TAMHSC personnel, students, guests and facilities are safe and secure.
Coordinates security training with risk manager to ensure all security staff and personnel are able to do their routine jobs and are ready for unexpected events that may jeopardize and put at risk TAMHSC personnel and property; including management and oversight of Central Receiving.
Prepares and maintains records and reports to demonstrate compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations; in addition perform quarterly security audits.
Works with Risk Manager and Chief Safety Officer to review, test and implement the TAMHSC Crisis Management Plan.
Assist Director of Security with overseeing and building a database of alarms and contacts for each HSC campus.
Monitor the Clery Act database for the Bryan Campus; providing monthly audits of each HSC campus to ensure timely updates.
Controls access for the Bryan Campus to include key issuance, key cutting, locks, change and re-combinate cylinders, access card creation and programing of specialized areas including a vivarium and irradiator, maintains the biometric security of the Vivarium and BSL labs
Attends monthly meeting with Bryan Campus staff (or as needed).
Maintains the security system containing cameras and access card readers, calling in work orders and setting up service responses.
Manages and oversees Central Receiving
Coordinates parking for visitors to campus entities.
