Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED:
(Ordered by Importance)
1. Prevents harm to persons and property in the
hospital and on hospital property, including
Perimeter security.
2. Provides surveillance and protection of hospital
associates, visitors and hospital property.
3. Assists the Director of Engineering in
maintaining a safe hospital free from disorderly
persons.
4. Responds to fire alarms as part of the fire
response team as called for in the Emergency
Preparedness Plan and the Fire Prevention
Management Plan.
5. Patrols designated security areas and parking
lots. Escorts visitors and associates as
requested (when available) to parking lots.
6. Lock and unlock doors as requested or
scheduled. Check locked doors.
7. Assist nurses with patients as requested,
especially in the Emergency Department.
8. Respond to panic alarms and other emergency
requests for assistance.
Qualifications
Required:
Pre-Basic Training course with the Indiana Law
Enforcement Academy (40 hr course).
Currently working as a law enforcement officer
within the State of Indiana.
Preferred:
Graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement
Academy (16 week course).
One year experience as a law enforcement officer
within the State of Indiana
