Basic function
The Physical Security Manager is responsible for developing and enforcing security procedures and regulations to safeguard GM Financial assets (property, information, and personnel) from situations that may endanger their welfare. This position manages the contracted physical security program and acts as a liaison to all vendors and departments on security measures, procedures, incidents, maintenance and needs. This position is responsible for conducting and/or supervising complex, sensitive and high risk investigations to protect the assets and interests of the company.

Job duties
· Manage, oversee, and implement security policies to provide security in conjunction with local ordinances and prevailing laws.
· Supervise, evaluate and manage the company's contract security program to ensure a safe and secure environment for the Company's employees, business associates and visitors. This includes hiring interviews, assessing adherence to training programs, monitoring performance and ensuring adherence to contracted service level agreements or accepted standard practice.
· Define best practices and determine the appropriateness of increased security controls via cost/benefit analysis.
· Function as a direct point of contact between GM Financial and external vendors providing security, equipment and maintenance services to GM Financial.
· Analyze existing security measures and make recommendations for improvements when needed. Manage the incident response procedures and provide written reports summarizing incidents, safety violations to appropriate parties.
· Clearly communicate GM Financial security objectives so both management and staff are well informed.
· Play a key role in the planning and execution of emergency preparedness activities for GM Financial facilities.
· Assist the AVP Personnel Security with development of annual physical security budget.
· Deliver professional investigative results in complex, sensitive and high risk situations.
· Utilize and manage both internal and outsource resources in the performance of investigations as required.
· Assure delivery of investigations within the framework of the Investigative Guidelines.
· Conduct informational and/or confrontational interviews to obtain statements to confirm facts and support investigative findings.
· Liaise with HR, business clients, and other control functions in the delivery, communication and resolution of investigations.
· Deliver professionally written investigative reports incorporating all evidence required to prove investigative findings and identify causal factors to facilitate post mortem analysis.
· Manage case files and investigative data. Trend and analyze investigative information and provide feedback and consultation to tighten and improve business processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge
· Working knowledge of security operations, policies and procedures.
· Working knowledge of local ordinances and prevailing laws as well as GM Financial policies and procedures.
Skills
· Demonstrated effective crisis management skills.
· Leadership ability to effectively monitor and develop team.
· Good oral written communication skills, with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
· Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, representative of other contractors, visitors and government representatives.
· Must be a self-starter and able to manage the physical security function with minimal supervision.
Experience
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
· 5+ years progressively responsible investigative experience or corporate security experience.
· 5+ years supervisory experience in corporate security required.
Work condition:
Normal office environment with up to 35 % travel.
