Assistant Security Manager
Assists the Security Manager in supervising the activities of security force of the Resort; guards property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry; patrols Resort premises to maintain order, enforce regulations, and ensure observance of applicable policies and laws by performing the following duties.

Requirements:
•Assigns personnel to posts or patrol, according to business needs and protection requirements.•Interprets security rules and directs subordinates in enforcing compliance such as parking, issuance of keys, access by guests and employees, safekeeping of lost & found articles left by visitors.•Responds to calls from subordinates to direct activities during fires, storms, riots, or other emergencies.Offers and/or obtains assistance for accident victims and writes accident reports.•Selects and trains subordinates in protective procedures, first aid, fire safety, and other duties.•Inspects or directs inspection of premises to test alarm systems, detect safety hazards, and to ensure that safety rules are posted and enforced. Reports irregularities and hazards to appropriate personnel. Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.•Examines fire extinguishers and other safety equipment for serviceability.•Cooperates with police, fire, and civil defense authorities in problems affecting the Resort. Assists management and enforcement officers in emergency situations.•Patrols lobbies, corridors, and public areas, confers with management, interviews guests and employees, and interrogates persons to detect infringements and investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalisms, and accidents.•Assists other departments as needed, to warn or eject troublemakers, and caution careless persons. Notifies staff of presence of persons with questionable reputations. Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.•Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure. Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.•Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.•Permits authorized persons to enter property. Observes arriving and departing personnel to monitor appearance standards and guard against theft of company property.•Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.•Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at parking entrances to maintain orderly flow.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Assumes the role and responsibilities of the Security Manager in the Manager’s absence. Assists the Security Manager as needed in the operation and oversight of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Resort's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Essential skills and experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Current First Aid/CPR certification required. Current First Aid Instructor card preferred. Current EMT1 or OEC preferred. Current Alaska Driver’s License required. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
