The Role

The Security Manager typically serves as member of management and is considered a senior level consultant within the organization. As such, the Security Manager provides functional, technical or process leadership. The organization will depend on this person's management of multiple sub-teams and provision of tactical solutions to the Company’s security needs. The Security Manager manages a group of security personnel who ensure the protection of an organization's property and staff.

Core Responsibilities
Provide company-wide leadership and direction in all areas of security, loss control, security best practices and security programs including strategic planning and company-wide collaboration
Develop security-related Standard Operating Procedures
Serve as the principle advisor to all lines of business and external groups to coordinate and provide security services
Oversee and provide direction for major security related projects and physical security technologies including but not limited to; various card key access systems, alarm systems, video surveillance systems security services, and various other related systems

Responsible for conducting security audits, develop and administer appropriate metrics and measuring tools to measure security performance
Design, establish and maintain a department structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; (recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.)
Develop, manage and monitor the security department budget
Develop and implement a security training strategy for the department and ensure appropriate steps are taken to ensure company wide security compliance
Provide frequent communications to the staff concerning security
Oversee and direct security efforts across the company to identify security initiatives and standards
Provide company-wide guidance regarding "best practice" security standards, solutions and guidance to maintain a secure environment for the protection of personnel
Interpret security laws and regulations, directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other issuers of security requirements
Review all daily incident reports and ensure timely follow-up
Plan security for special and high-risk events
Strive to achieve zero incident rates through technological, physical, and integrated security solutions
Supports response to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms, following emergency response procedures
Identify, investigate, or resolve security breaches
Manage and direct the work of a team of Security Officers, Team Leaders and Drivers

Education / Knowledge
Degree in Management Studies with subsequent supplementary Security certifications
8-10 years’ experience in a similar role at Management level
Experience within a Security or Military environment will be an asset
Familiarity with local Law Enforcement and Security institutions
Project Management certification

Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the Head of Security and Operations * (HOD)
