Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research, and education.
Main Function:
Functions as the Assistant Director of Security; responsible for all administrative duties of the department including all aspects related to the registration of guards under the NY State Security
Guard Act. Also conducts very complex security investigations and acts as the Director of Security in the absence of the Security Director.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervises, trains, and evaluates three security managers and directs the supervision and training of the security supervisors and guard force.
Serve as a liaison between MSKCC and NY State for the purpose of properly licensing the Center’s guard staff and MSKCC designation as a guard training school.. Review and interpret legal requirements related to guard registration.
Conducts highly complex and confidential investigations involving issues related to theft of Center property, criminal activity by employees and other related matters. Prepares reports and makes recommendations concerning employee suspensions, terminations or proceeding with criminal or civil complaints against Center employees or members of the public who may have violated security policies of the Center.
Conduct security audits of various areas of the Center to ascertain security risks and/or safety maters. Reviews and makes recommendations for the placement of security personnel or equipment in areas where appropriate.
Meets with Federal, State, or local law enforcement staff for the purpose of coordinating security activity or protecting VIP visitors of patients.
Requirements:
In depth knowledge of law enforcement and security matters
Bachelors Degree, preferable in Police Science
Minimum of 10 years experience including law enforcement or industrial security, and staff supervision.
Knowledge of NYS Penal Code/criminal law required.

Well developed interpersonal skills
Very strong verbal and written communication skills
