Police Advisor- Level IV

Job Summary 
International Civilian Police Advisors will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, advising and mentoring the local civil police. The Police Advisor Level IV assists in ensuring that law and order are maintained through democratic policing principles and human rights and freedoms are protected.

Principal Accountabilities
Police Advisor- Level IV will set the overall mission direction and will work closely with the customer.
Responsible for working closely with the USG, senior host country government and international actors in order to carry out the mission.
Responsible for operational control for all international police advisors assigned to the task
order.
Ensures that all international police advisors provide high quality services and conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Responsible for all other command, performance, administrative, inspection, personnel, discipline and reporting responsibilities of the contingent either directly or through designated representatives.
Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to evaluate job task performance of others within assigned field of endeavor and to make appropriate recommendations for, and demonstrate, correct task performance.
Negotiating, interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability and willingness to train other individuals in their area of expertise
A working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience & Education

Twelve (12) years of progressive experience in police management and supervision, visionary skills and ability to form strong partnerships in a diverse culture.
Candidates must be currently employed with a federal, state, municipal or county law enforcement service or be recently retired/separated within the last five years.
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/law enforcement or related field; an advanced or law enforcement command training through FBI, PERF, SPI, Northwestern, etc.
Overseas experience in senior level position on an international police assistance mission is preferred.
Valid US driver’s license.
Unblemished background.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Ability to perform key responsibilities under conditions which may include: limited supervision and resources, personal security risks, conflicting and changing priorities, primitive life support (lodging, food, and HVAC), language barriers, transportation limitations, disease, etc.
Must be able to pass and maintain the physical, psychological and medical requirements set forth by the contract.

Travel
This is an international position. Ability/Available to travel internationally to potential austere environments.
