Job Description
The Ammunition Specialist shall handle; transport; and store all types of ammunition; explosives; missiles and toxic chemicals and other HAZMAT and inspect materiel to determine serviceability and need for repair or destruction. Responsibilities include the use of Total Ammunition Management Information System (TAMIS) and; Ordnance Information Systems (OIS); Retail Ordnance Logistics Management Systems (ROLMS) and other AIS as required. All Ammunition personnel involved in the custody; maintenance; disposal; distribution; or security of Arms; Ammunition & Explosives (AA&E) in the performance of their duties shall be screened using the AA&E Screening Package per Marine Corps Order (MCO) 5530.14A Marine Corps Physical Security Program; paragraph 8002.1. and MCO 8023.3B Personnel Qualification and Certification Program for Class V Ammunition Explosives; paragraph 4.a.7. Knowledge is required of the types; nomenclature; codes; and uses of ammunition items; and suitable substitutes; for unavailable ammunition items. Work is reviewed through observations and conferences with the on-site task lead and via monthly reports based on requirements as specified by the Government.
Prefer military experience at the MOS 2311 Ammunition Technician level. Prefer candidate has completed the Enlisted Ammunition Specialist Course.
Education
Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience.
Must be HAZMAT qualified and familiar with ammunition accountability procedures. Qualifications required: competency in the USMC and DOD procedures and regulations governing the storage and transportation of ammo; competence in the USMC and DOD procedures and regulations governing the accountability and distribution of ammo and competence in the USMC and DOD procedures and regulations governing the physical security of ammo. Contractor shall able to obtain an operators' license for non-tactical/tactical Government-owned equipment and be certified to transport AA&E.
