3M’s Corporate Security Department has an immediate need for a Security Manager. This position will be located in Maplewood, MN.
Job Summary:
Provide leadership in developing and implementing a full range of security programs, primarily for, but not limited to, 3M Corporate Headquarters in Maplewood, Minnesota, which encompasses approximately 400 acres over 40 buildings, and a combined proprietary and contracted work force exceeding 12,000 workers. Responsibilities will be focused on protecting 3M’s employees, property, products, technology, and reputation while supporting business growth. In coordination with 3M leaders, General Counsel, and other stakeholders, lead complex investigations, conduct security assessments, implement Corporate Security standards, support crisis planning and response, maintain productive liaison relationships with internal business partners and external businesses, agencies and other entities as necessary. The position reports to the Manager, Risk Mitigation and Investigations, who in turn reports to the Director of Corporate Security.
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Conduct assessments of company facilities and operations, consistent with 3M standards, providing direction and reasonable risk mitigation measures and cost effective security solutions.
Manage and conduct investigations across a broad spectrum of issues.
Work in productive collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners
Manage and implement Corporate Security’s physical security standards
Support information security strategies
Provide leadership to assigned business and facilities relative to 3M’s Violence Prevention Program
Fulfill a flexible work schedule including being on-call 24×7
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and services with certain “non-U.S. persons” (persons who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees, “Temporary Residents” (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker provisions), or persons granted asylum (but excluding persons in nonimmigrant status such as H-1B, L-1, F-1, etc.) or non-U.S. citizens.
To comply with these laws, and in conjunction with the review of candidates for those positions within 3M that may present access to export controlled technical data, 3M must assess employees’ U.S. person status, as well as citizenship(s).

Qualifications
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years combined experience in corporate security, law enforcement and/or military role.
Minimum of 3 years managing and conducting complex and sensitive investigations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communications skills including the ability to operate effectively with all levels of an organization.
Strong report writing skills, public speaking and well-developed time management skills.
Written and oral fluency in English.
Demonstrated management skills in security or law enforcement profession.
Experience in responding to crises and directing an effective response.
Ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
Additional foreign language skills, while not required, would significantly increase competitiveness.
