The Role:

The Corporate Security Manager will drive the development and standardization of security policies and programs for safeguarding Amazon’s Lab 126 global business operations. This position is a member of the senior security team at Lab 126 responsible for supporting security operations, safety and business continuity programming. This position will directly support security operations and emergency response, as well as help define and build foundational security programs and vendor capabilities to support the unique needs of storing, managing, or accessing confidential technology projects. Additionally, this position will participate in improving the consistency and effectiveness of security and safety across the global footprint. This position is based in Sunnyvale, Ca and reports to the Sr. Manager of Lab126 Safety and Security.

The successful candidate is expected to create, establish, implement and validate compliance with security programs across the security spectrum to include: physical security design standards, security awareness training, emergency response, IP protection program, and classification of sensitive information. These programs are expected to leverage technology and systems to create automated processes and support systems that are sustainable and scalable. In this role, you will:

  • Support day to day security operations to include guard force management, alarm response, special event management
  • Work jointly with various operations and HR stakeholders to develop and implement security awareness programs
  • Develop and oversee standard operating procedures for designs, configuration and implementation of physical security systems for both people protection and the effective storage and management of prototype and other sensitive devices
  • Understand the value of using metrics to improve individual, team, system, and site performance; establish and implement effective, predictable and measurable procedures/processes that can be communicated clearly among stakeholders
  • Conduct investigations, audits, special event coordination and other safety, security or business continuity efforts as business conditions warrant
  • Create and communicate protection standards for applicability throughout Amazon, to include protection of Amazon Lab126 intellectual property and assets; in a manner that emphasizes effectiveness of controls, efficiency, automation and frugality
  • Research and test a variety of equipment, components, products and systems with the goal of fully optimizing our investments. Initiate and maintain strategic planning to keep pace with growth of business teams, global sites, and evolving customer and stakeholder needs
  • Work with senior management to create a security conscious culture
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in the new product development process
  • Serve as regional incident manager as required
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Security or related field or 8+ years of experience as a Security Manager within a multinational environment in lieu of degree
  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines; corporate security management, security and asset policy development, transportation/supply chain security, and physical security infrastructure design
  • 7+ years of experience as a security manager in a multi-location global corporate environment
  • Written and verbal communication skills with ability to concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise on policy to associates and management across diverse global sites
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Program Development, Workplace Incident Management, Emergency Response, Crisis Management, and Business Continuity
  • Proven ability to accurately take decisive action based on available information in a timely manner
  • Ability to travel globally 20-30% of the time

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating program requirements across company owned as well as 3rd party co-manufacturing locations
  • Experience managing security programs across Asia
  • 10+ years of experience in Corporate Security leadership role
  • Customer focused and results oriented leader that possesses strong influencing skill and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment
  • Proven ability to work with and effectively persuade facility site leaders and senior management
  • Analytical leader experienced in performance based, action and results oriented management, strong project manager and effective problem-solver
  • Bilingual/multilingual speaker

Possession of any or all of the following certifications are a plus:

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP)
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Member of Business Continuity Institute (MBCI)
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
