Required Minimum Education:
Associates Degree required
Bachelors Degree preferred
Preferred in Criminal Justice or like field
Five years Security experience will be considered in lieu of degree
REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
4 years in security of a large, public facility required
4 years previous leadership experience required
In a healthcare setting strongly preferred
REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Valid Texas Drivers’ License
CHPA, Security Manager's License (Texas), CHEM, CHEP preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to make independent decisions with tact, and a mature/positive attitude.
Must demonstrate initiative in assuming responsibilities.
Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks to achieve time line goals.
Must be able to work well with co-workers of all backgrounds.
Must be able to oversee and conduct investigations as it relates to both Safety and Security, documenting appropriately.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to)
Plan, organize, and delegate activities as required for safe, efficient, and effective operation of the department including active participation with other hospital and leadership staff to accomplish this purpose.
Identify and utilize processes and resources that support optimal delivery of data and information to staff.
Oversee and maintain documentation as it relates to security incidents and investigations.
Incorporate customer needs and expectations into daily operations and business planning strategies.
Promote team building strategies and principles of group process in interaction with staff.
Accountable and responsible for staffing needs. Responsible for personnel functions including staffing, performance reviews and corrective action. Promote professional growth and development of all employees. Recognize and reward individual and team accomplishments. Supports shared decision-making to develop inter/intradepartmental teamwork and team goal accomplishments. Manages time and labor of staff.
Prepares operating and capital budgets for areas of responsibility.
Manages approved operating and capital budgets effectively and adjusts strategies as needed to meet budget expectations.
Identifies and evaluates patient care requirements and outcomes based upon patient acuity, system and budgetary guidelines.
Network with peers to share ideas and conduct mutual problem-solving. Recognize/communicate ethical and legal concerns through established channels of communication.
Promote and demonstrate the professional image of nursing in demeanor, appearance, attitude and behavior.
Engage in self-performance appraisal, identifying areas of strength as well as areas for professional/practice development.
