Job Description
The Personnel Security Assistant (PSA) position supports the Personnel and Security Division (PSD) in administering pre-entry on duty security screening procedures for USCIS employees and contractor personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing eQIP security forms reviews, case set-up, law checks, credit checks, and employment and citizenship verifications.
Requesting background investigations with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and processing related documents.
Reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, returning documents to originator for additional information and clarification, requesting additional documentation as needed, submitting appropriate requests for other related information and responding to inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications:
All applicants must meet the following security requirements in accordance with the contract:
U.S. Citizenship per the contract
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and a favorable Suitability Determination.
Undergo pre-employment drug screening.
Additional requirements include:
The ability to set and manage deadlines, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task;
Work independently, think logically and work effectively within group settings.
Receive general policy and guidance from a supervisor and act upon them with minimal supervision; and
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Associate’s Degree preferred; or a high school diploma and 2 years of job-related experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience in related databases.
