Description
Serves as primary Armorer in support of the 302nd Squadron, Royal Netherlands military as
part of Security Forces Assistance (SFA) Foreign Military Training program at Fort Hood, TX. Responsible for the operation of two (2) separate arms room facilities. Conducts all facets of arms room management to include the receipt, issue, accountability, and security of weapons, sensitive items, optics, and Night Vision Devices (NVDs). The arms rooms can be subject to 7 day/24 hour operations during training unit rotations. Conducts inventories of weapons, equipment, and ammunition in accordance with (IAW) applicable regulations and accurately completes all forms and records associated with the daily operations of the arms storage facilities. Ensures arms room operations and functions are IAW applicable regulations, policies and, SOPs. Issues and accounts for small arms for 302nd Squadron training units on Fort Hood, TX. Uses DA/Fort Hood Forms to sign out and account for all weapons and other equipment as required. Maintains files for all documents pertaining to the arms room operation, IAW policies, and makes them available for periodic inspections by the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) physical security sections. Opens and closes the arms storage facility and operates the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) IAW Army Regulations, Fort Hood Installation Regulations, and applicable SOPs. Ensures the IDS for the arms room and the building are maintained in working order and submits maintenance requests to correct deficiencies. Conducts a visual count and inventory each time the arms room is opened for operations and maintenance, when a change of custody occurs, and each time the arms room is closed. Prepares the arms room for the monthly sensitive items inventories. Receives, secures, and accounts for and issues weapons from outside organizations upon proper approval from supervisor and organizational chief IAW approved Memorandum of Agreements (MOA). Ensures adequate cleaning supplies and equipment are on hand for weapons cleaning and maintenance. Maintains an information board inside of the arms storage area (posted close to the issue window/door as possible), screened from public view for posting of pertinent information. Ensures the restricted area and IDS signs are posted IAW applicable regulations. Hand receipts for all locks and keys utilized in the arms storage facility on appropriate paperwork. Operates Government-owned vehicles to accomplish pickup and/or turn in of property and equipment for the 302nd Squadron. Responsible for dispatching of vehicle, maintaining dispatch logs, and driver maintenance of vehicle. Signs hand receipts for property and equipment received for arms room. Briefs supervisor on status of hand receipts and the status of equipment that needs replacing or repair. Armorer will be responsible for completion of arms room forms DA-2062, DA-3749, DA-4604-R, DA-5513, DA 581, DA 5515, SF 701, SF 702, FH 109x-47, and FH 550. Responsible for the security measures and controls for equipment stored within arms room/supply areas and ensures the protection and integrity of all accountable property and arms room records. Composes routine correspondence from brief notes, oral instructions, or on the basis of precedents. Performs word processing on a computer terminal to prepare correspondence. Stores and retrieves electronic information, files, and documents. Executes several basic office automation functions such as storing and retrieving documents or files, inserting and deleting text, entering data into predefined spreadsheet or database, and retrieving data from specified electronic records. Uses word processing software and printing equipment. Maintains time and attendance data and prepares time cards. Performs other duties as assigned.
• In- lieu of Degree Must have 8 years of relative specialty experience.
• Must have 3-5 years of unit armorer experience.
• 3-5 years experience in operating the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is desired.
• Experience functioning as a Key Control Custodian, Key Control NCOIC, or equivalent is desired.
• Personnel must have been authorized previously granted unaccompanied access to a U.S. installation arms room.
• Must be eligible or meet local DES requirements (security test and PIN access) for unaccompanied access to an arms room, IAW Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) DA Form 7281-R.
• Graduate of an advanced non-commissioned officer military training course desired.
• Graduate or certificate of completion from a U.S. Army sponsored unit armorer course.
• Must have a working knowledge of Army Regulations AR 190-11, AR 710-2, DA Pam 710-2-1, FHR 190-11, and FHR 700-15.
• Have a working knowledge of sensitive items accountability requirements.
• Ability to work extensively with Microsoft Office programs.
• Possess or have the ability to possess a valid State driver’s license to dispatch and operate vehicles from the Transportation Motor Pool.
•This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
