Physical Security Specialist Responsibilities:
The Physical Security Specialist will assist staff members in all office activities and operations as assigned. The individual will provide technical support for security projects related to construction, installation, maintenance and/or renovation. They will work to ensure that project security needs are coordinated. The individual must be able to take direction well and work independently.
Duties shall include, but are not limited to the following:
• Provide technical planning, scheduling, analysis and assistance in support of security projects.
• Assist with research, documentation, revision, development, and/or evaluation of physical security plans.
• Assist with research, evaluation, tests, and/or technical analysis of physical security equipment.
• Ensure operability and integrity of physical security systems.
• Assist with the implementation of security plans.
• Develop/analyze security program resource requests.
• Interpret existing rules, regulations, and policies and provide guidance.
• Assist with the development and implementation of program to confirm access card logs and security camera recordings.
• Coordinate with construction program counterparts as needed.
• Review documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Enter, retrieve, and maintain data in specific databases.
• Prepare reports, memoranda, briefing papers, and other written material for internal use and external use.
• Receive and process security clearance messages and conduct limited criminal history checks.
• Prepare correspondence for management signature.
• Communicate via telephone, Lync and/or e-mail with high-level officials throughout the agency and District offices, as well as other contract affiliates.
• Ability to travel within the continental United States.
• Compliance with all applicable security and conduct requirements, regulations, and procedures.
Experience and Skills:
Required skills and experience:
• BA/BS Degree in related field or four years or more of experience related to this field.
• Two or more years of specialized experience related to the duties described.
• General experience providing specific support for security projects such as Strategic Planning, Facility protection, Law Enforcement, Physical and/or Electronic Security, Recovery Planning and Transportation Security.
• Knowledge of the federal government’s regulations related to security facilities.
• Ability to provide analytical thinking and problem solving.
• Ability to apply inductive, deductive, and conductive reasoning.
• Ability to communicate factual information and ideas in English, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, often under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Time management, organization and prioritization skills.
• Ability to meet with and deal effectively with people.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal employees as well as outside sources.
• Attention to detail.
• Communication skills.
• Exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
• Ability to quickly and effectively adapt to change.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to complete as needed, within the first six months of service, NSA approved COMSEC custodian course of instruction.
• As needed, knowledge in drafting and implementing physical and IT security plans based on established DOD/USDOJ procedures.
Experince with CCTV, wands, and magnetometers.
Security Force and Force Protection
Requires an active Public Trust with DOJ; Secret clearance preferred.
