The closest major city (Reno NV) is located about 2.5 driving hours away.
Las Vegas Nevada is located about 5 driving hours away.
Our climate compares to that of Afghanistan (dry desert) but the temperatures are not as extreme.There are many opportunities in our area for outdoor recreation. Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort, and many back-roads for for hiking, biking, fishing, ATV/UTV travel are a few of the amenities right out our back door. Hawthorne is a patriotic and peaceful town.

Responsibilities:
Review plans, procedures, methods and facilities involving the manufacture, demil, or renovation of munitions or components or the update of existing munitions to assure the safety of munitions operations.
Perform periodic on site surveys and inspections of work operations and premises. Ensure procedures and facilities are adequate to assure safety of personnel and property. Verify that work is performed in accordance with approved Standing Operating Procedures (SOP). Prepare reports and make recommendations on conditions observed. Review and recommend changes, modifications, approval or disapproval of Operating Procedures (SOP).
Member of Preliminary Inspection Team as assigned. Perform detailed investigation for specific health and accident hazards prior to
start up of new operations. Provide Safety expertise to first line supervisors and planners.
Use established safety methods, standards, regulations, and practices to eliminate or control hazards. Maintain accident reporting, investigation, and analysis standards to ensure effective corrective action and follow up are provided.
Develop, Maintain and present courses of instruction on various and varied safety practices i.e. Material Handling Equipment operation.
Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:Education: BS degree in technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced Technical course work in Safety required. Ammunition/explosives experience highly desirable.
Length of Experience: Four (4) years experience in munitions, explosives, or general industrial safety practices.
