Overview:
The Deputy Director, Canine Training provides direction and
managerial oversight of the SOC Canine Training Center and serves as the
alternate to the Director for all Canine Government Services contracts.
The incumbent will also provide input to the Director – as required –
for the Canine Program to include, but not limited to: recruiting,
training, certification and deployment process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Director, Canine Training for SOC Canine Training Program initiatives. Responsible for technical day-to-day canine training and direction to the SOC trainers, canines and students.
- Develops and instructs explosive detection curriculum for deploying Canine Handlers and personnel – as required – for existing and future programs. Ensures all SOC core values are intrinsically adhered to. Directs, mentors, leads and evaluates performance of canines, trainers and students at the SOC Canine Training Center.
- Responsible for technical direction and overall canine training program performance; identifies gaps; develops and implements repeatable, sustainable processes to increase training efficiencies.
- Reports and monitors variances of overhead cost and budgeted expectations. Ensures timeliness and that goals are met, while ensuring SOC quality control measures are in place and effective.
- Identifies and incorporates operational enhancements to existing strategic initiatives and expands these to other areas, as appropriate.
- Supports Senior Leadership and the Business Development team in establishing the strategic business plans and proposal management/oversight support, as required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to direct and supervise staff, both technical and administrative, through effective communication, effective delegation of responsibility, and the motivation and development of employees.
- Experience in effectively directing and providing high-level oversight of canine program administration requiring Explosive Detector Dog Team operations in austere regions.
- Proven ability to acquire and administer human, material and information resources needed to support proposal efforts and existing task order requirements.
- Proven experience managing relationships with the customer and sub-contractors, and successfully managing a canine program.
- Previous experience as Canine Program Director, Canine Program Manager, Task Order Leader, and/or Senior Canine Instructor/Trainer.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will accept comparable experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience
- NORT, NAPWADA, DOS Kennel Master certifications
- Current Secret Security Clearance Required
