Marine Security Manager, Fleet
Description: The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Marine Security Manager, Fleet who will be responsible for managing the Holland America Group fleet and marine security team in preparing for and responding to security incidents and ensure compliance with all international, Flag State, U.S. and Carnival Corporate security regulations, standards and policies. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager, Fleet Security, and will be located in our Santa Clarita offices.

Responsibilities
Monitors and evaluates performance of fleet security programs and recommends corrective action as appropriate.
Conducts security inspections/assessments, prepares reports, reviews findings, and provides recommendations on improvements
Supervises operation and maintenance of shipboard security systems and equipment, as well as Ship and Port Security Management database and Ship Security Alert System (SSAS).
Supervises/manages Fleet Security Trainers in delivering ship/port security and criminal incident response/investigation training to fleet.
Monitors shipboard security staffing assignments and coordinates with Fleet Personnel to ensure ships’ security staffing is appropriate for workload, responsibilities and assignments.
Assists in recruiting, interviewing and hiring shipboard security staff.
Monitors, counsels and reviews staff performance; identifies and provides career developmental training opportunities for staff.
Reviews, updates and implements Ship Security Plans and Fleet Regulations.
Assists in reviewing, interpreting and distributing Flag State, U.S., and Carnival Corporation regulatory and policy guidance to fleet.
Assists in correcting Flag and Corporate audit findings.
Monitors and reviews current security issues, industry trends and security technology and updates management on potential threats and countermeasures
Develops and supervises implementation and compliance with Ship Security Plans (SSPs), including physical security, information protection, incident response/investigation and special project planning.
Assists in preparation of department budget.
Reviews Fleet Security contracts, monitors expenditures; assists in preparation of department budget.
Supports Senior Manager, Fleet Security and Marine Security Manager, Operations in monitoring worldwide intelligence, conducting risk analysis for countries of concern and analysis of shore side security incidents as required.
Provides guidance, information and recommendations regarding shipboard operations in support of crime investigations to Security Investigator as required.
Conducts Port Vulnerability and Threat Assessments as required.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical work experience.
Five to ten years’ experience in Security, Maritime Transportation Management or related fields.
Strong skills in computer business applications.
Strong management, presentation, and negotiation skills as well as proven experience in organizing and directing diverse staff.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to analyze security infrastructure and procedures and determine requirements to correct deficiencies.
Ability to travel, both domestically as well as internationally, approx. 20%.

Preferences
Prior experience as a Security Officer onboard a cruise ship.
Prior law enforcement, military or maritime investigative experience.
ISPS/MTSA regulatory/audit experience.
Knowledge of surveillance/screening equipment and training experience in these areas.
