Job Description
Linxx Global Solutions, a fast growing Government contracting company, with corporate offices located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is currently looking for experienced Lead and Staff Instructors to fill independent contractor training positions in support of the Global Anti-terrorism Assistance (GATA) program. Applicants must have a training background and be willing to travel frequently, both domestically and abroad, for short-term assignments.
Please note that these are not entry-level positions—the applicant must be able to validate previous instructor experience in the form of certifications, official documentation, and verifiable employment experience. Prior to working on this contract, candidates must be granted a U.S. government-issued moderate risk public trust (MRPT) and be vetted by the Anti-terrorism Assistance (ATA) program office. Public trust certifications require an investigation similar to that of a security clearance, and will include a background investigation. Please list on resume any current or former security clearances held.
Course Description
This 5-day course will provide 24 participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to an active shooting incident. Course is also designed to educate police commanders on the need to delegate authority to street-level police officers and enhance their ability to take immediate action in order to save lives. This may also require a change in paradigm to effectively respond to this type of event. This course will also provide first responding police officers with essential tactical skills to help mitigate the loss of innocent lives caused by an active shooter(s). In general, responding to an active shooting requires extensive training, specialized skills and tactics, and a comprehensive approach.
This course will use several instructional methods, including lecture, group discussion, case studies, and practical exercises. Participants will have opportunities to apply knowledge learned from the modules to practice existing and newly acquired skills.
Topics will include (but are not limited to):
Defining and describing an active shooting incident
Human rights
Direct movement to contact
How to conduct active shooter training
An introduction to improvised explosive devices
How to develop standard operating procedures
Conducting pre-incident risk assessments
Target vulnerability analyses
Command and control functions
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to develop and implement a response plan for resolving an active shooting incident. In addition, the course is designed to prepare the participants to conduct their own scenario-based active shooter training within their own organizations.
Required Skills
Mandatory Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the field. One year subject matter-related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education.
Specialized training shall include facilitator certification from an accredited academic institution; local, state, Federal law enforcement institution; or military organization, including online courses.
Familiar with curriculum design and development.
Demonstrated operational experience in the subject area.
Must have professional appearance.
Familiar with Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to:
MS Word
MS PowerPoint
MS Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and general experience in various facets of training associated with a special weapons and tactics team and/or active shooting incident training, to include areas such as firearms, breaching, sharpshooter/observer, tactical/raid planning, incident management training, and any other specialty field(s).
Experience with international participant training in the field of (American law enforcement) active shooting response training.
