Job Summary
Provide instruction in the USASOC Survival Evasion Resistance Escape School (SERE) School to ensure each student graduates with confidence and the ability to employ the SERE tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) necessary to return with honor regardless of the circumstances of captivity. Instructors will conduct course instruction, course administration to include completing student training reports and forms, and logistical, operational and administrative activities for SERE academics, field training and resistance training.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Shall become Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SERE subjects, such as, escape and evasion, map reading, land navigation, survival methods/techniques, preparation of fish and game, plant identification, concealment , camouflage, evasion planning (rural and urban), air/sea/land ex-filtration, methods to resolve captive environments, cross cultural communications, escape planning, physical and psychological aspects of captivity, clandestine communication, resistance to exploitation, interrogation and the U.S. Military Code of Conduct.
Shall participate in the development and execution of training scenarios as well as develop or improve new and existing POI’s and Lesson Plans as required by the customer. Shall become knowledgeable in individual and group resistance postures, techniques and strategies being able to provide training on overt and covert communications and planning escapes in all captivity environments.
Shall become subject matter expert in resistance training and techniques to include classroom instruction, role play and exploitation efforts being able to provide detailed instruction, training scenarios and dilemmas while “in role”.
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
Required to receive and pass an initial and annual psychological evaluation, performed by a SERE clinical psychologist.
Must have an accredited instructor training/certificate, such as Basic Instructor Course (BIC), Individual Training Course (ITC), or equivalent.
Be physically fit to withstand rigorous physical requirements and must be able to operate for extended periods of time in rural/urban outdoor conditions, to include extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
Must have graduated from a qualified DoD SERE “C” School
Experience Required:
Previous SERE experience required to support training requirements.
Must have previous experience teaching SERE skill sets.
