We are seeking exceptional candidates for an Area Security Manager. The position has overall managerial responsibility for Geismar security as well as other company owned properties in the area. This position plans, directs, and oversees all site security operations, as well as serving as a resource to advise other sites on security procedures, special projects, events, and other security-related activities.
Your responsibilities would include the following:
- Establish site security policies/procedures and ensure compliance,
- Oversee and provide leadership for 4 direct reports and contract guard force. Directs personnel responsible for electronic and physical security systems, evaluates performance to protect company assets.
- Develop site security projects, coordinate project activities with others, and ensure completion by the established dates.
- Conduct investigations as needed with limited supervision.
- Develop and maintain close contacts with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
- Study, interpret, and ensure compliance with the Maritime Transportation Security Act and other state/federal requirements.
- Fully participate in site leadership activities and emergency response operations

This position is located in Geismar, LA. BASF’s Geismar location supports several BASF business units. Located in Ascension Parish, 25 miles south of Baton Rouge and 60 miles north of New
Orleans it is a dynamic site with over 800 employees and up to 700 additional contractors. Our products are used as ingredients in many common items such as personal care products, detergents, pharmaceuticals, textiles, solvents, insulation and consumer packaging.

Qualifications – BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 8 years security management experience or related experience, required
• Must have experience managing others
• Expert knowledge of access control, CCTV and other security countermeasures
• Investigative experience required
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with senior level management and to influence others.
• Proven team player with the ability to lead teams and work well with others.
• Must be able to work well in a corporate environment while being assigned outside of corporate headquarters.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local law enforcement structure and federal, state and local laws.
• Strong communicator, orally and written.
• Experience with MTSA regulations, HM232, Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards, or similar regulatory protocols, desired
• Security certifications such as PSP or CPP are preferred
