Job Description
Serves as a Small Arms Analyst/Trainer for 3rd Infantry Command Maintenance Evaluation and Training (COMET) Team. Will train soldiers yearly in Arms Room procedures and certification courses, IAW Army Regulations and FL Reg 350-2. Receives and analyze maintenance and supply related data from COMET teams to recognize and evaluate trends and issues with regards to STAMIS training and unit RESET assistance. Individual is responsible for conducting sustainment training, evaluations, assistance and instruction to soldiers. Individual must have a high degree of technical expertise and shall provide resident staff logistics training and instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites
• Teaches one or more short courses in small arms, armament/weapons, electricity, or electronics; prepares an instructional program in accordance with training or other course requirements, assembling materials to be presented.
• Required to assemble and develop training and lesson plans, conduct special research projects related to supply and maintenance issues, conduct formal classes, presentations and briefings.
• Additionally, participate in Organizational Inspection Program during the conduct of Command Inspections (CIPs) and augment the Inspector General (IG) upon request.
• All duties and responsibilities require the individual to edit and compose written correspondence, documents and reports, deliver briefings in preparation for or at the completion of evaluations, training or assistance..
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Exeperience: High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5-10 years experience (20 preferred). as a Special Forces weapons Sergeant MOS 18B or Small Arms Repair Specialist, MOS 45B.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Extensive knowledge of all small arms such as the M-9 Pistol, M-4 Carbine, M203 Grenade Launcher, M249 (SAW) Squad Automatic Weapon, M240-B Machine Gun, MK-19 Machine Gun, M-2 Machine Gun, 60mm Mortar, 81mm Mortar, and 105mm Howitzers, as well as new systems that are fielded.
• Must have working knowledge of all the above weapon systems components/attachments such as special tools, (BII) Basic Issue Items, mounts, T&E mechanisms and service requirements.
• Must possess strong knowledge of arms room operations to include SAMS-E Scheduled maintenance procedures, installation physical security and environmental guidelines.
• Requires knowledge of and use of logistics web sites such as LOGSA, ARIMS, AEPS, WEBLOG, USAPA, ILAP and other army logistics programs.
• Must be well-organized and possess good interpersonal skills; must function individually and as a team member.
• Must have the ability to instruct personnel (user through Commanders) on all aspects of weapon maintenance and operations
• Must be able to prepare written reports and briefing slides as required using Microsoft Office Program.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Seeing, hearing, speaking, walking, standing (up to 2 hours in duration), bend, twist, climb, stoop, sitting, climbing, repetitive arm and finger motions, lifting (up to 110 lbs.), pushing, pulling and standing. Must be able to work outside in all seasons of weather.
