Position Summary
Responsible for maintaining the training and qualifications of the entire Security Force. Responsible for the maintenance of various aspects of the Security training program, to include all lesson plans, training materials, exam materials, drill and exercise program and required records. Also fully responsible for all range related training and maintenance activities.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop, revise and update the training program (to include lesson plans, exam questions, etc.) though continuous evaluations and effectiveness reviews using the Systematic Approach to Training methodology.
Present training courses and supervise 20 to 25 students in a class during training.
Prepare and maintain complete and accurate records of training in accordance with station and NRC
requirements.
Maintain the required Firearms Instructor and Armorer certifications necessary to ensure that all range training is done safely and that all weapons are maintained operable.
Maintain certifications and physical requirements to remain fully qualified to perform the duties of a Security Officer, Controller, or Supervisor and support the shifts in filling overtime in these posts.
Participate in the Nuclear Response Organization in an ‘on-call’ status.
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma.
Understanding of general security issues, tactics, and various weapons systems as demonstrated by completion of the Security Officer training program at SSES or at least 10 years experience in either Nuclear Security, Military, Law Enforcement, or similar; or education in a related field can be substituted for up to 4 year of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Criminal Justice or similar degree.
Firearms Instructor or additional security related certifications, Training in Classroom Instruction.
Demonstrated training experience.
