In addition to our engineering services, we provide a comprehensive suite of strategic consulting services to Port Facility owners, operators, developers, and builders world-wide. Our Ports & Marine group has a current need for a Senior-Level Port/Maritime Security Specialist to work from our Tampa, Florida office.
The Port/Maritime Security Specialist will lead our Ports & Marine security efforts. This effort consists of providing services to current clients and developing new clients with a focus in the United States and Caribbean.
The position offers career growth with opportunities to lead and develop technical staff as well as work on major Ports and Maritime projects locally, nationally and internationally. Specific duties associated with this position include:
Preparing Port/Maritime security-related proposals
Performing security assessments
Preparing Facility Security Plans
Developing training programs and exercises for client staff
Managing port security projects/tasks
The Ports & Marine group is comprised of highly-motivated Planners, Security Specialists, and Engineers with a variety of technical backgrounds (including Port & Terminal Planning, Civil, Environmental, Ocean and Structural Engineering and Port Security). Job Requirements
The Port/Maritime Security Specialist must have experience with:
Code compliance for Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and the International Ship and Port Facility Security Codes (ISPS)
Leading and managing Port Security assessments/audits and preparation/updating of Port Facility security plans
Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Projects
Preparing and implementing Maritime Security training programs
Conducting threat and vulnerability assessments at Seaport facilities
Developing and maintaining project scopes, schedules, fees & budgets
Providing project oversight (including quality, invoicing, and payment collection)
Preparation of Port Security proposals
Interaction with clients (i.e. maintaining current client relationships and developing new ones) related to Port Security
The successful applicant must have at least 15 years of experience, both internationally and within the United States Ports & Marine market. This role also requires Security project delivery experience (including leading personnel with diverse backgrounds), technical expertise to prepare security plans and reports, provide training and security exercises; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Educational and other requirements of this role are:
Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Security or a Law Enforcement-related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
Additional formal Security training desired;
Ability to work in the United States and internationally immediately;
Travel in the United States, occasionally overseas, is expected!
