Lockheed Martin is seeking a Military Working Dog (MWD) Trainer for a position in Fayetteville, NC. The position assists the military customer in the following areas: Provide instruction to students. Instruction topics include but are not limited to: Health and care of MWDs Control sequence Urban and rural tracking Explosive detection Obedience and agility with MWD Record keeping Any unique techniques developed by the Customer. Responsible for the initial training of all newly assigned MWDs. This includes ensuring all new MWDs are trained and developed in obedience, bite work, patrol work, detection, and tracking. Responsible for the sustainment and maintenance training of all assigned MWDs. This includes ensuring MWDs are trained and prepared for assignment to their perspective handlers. Assist with the selection of all MWDs that will enter into the program. Responsible for keeping electronic and/or paper records of criteria used to select each dog entered into the program for future reference. Responsible for maintaining data on the training of all MWDs and handlers to include all necessary DOD and customer paperwork, records, or databases. Responsible for scheduling visits through a veterinarian clinic for all assigned MWDs. Responsible for the care, sanitation, and maintenance of the kennel
facility in the absence of handlers. Required to develop and document short and long range training plans for the MWD and handlers, as well as giving input and advice during training. Required to prepare and/or give presentations and briefings as needed to outside agencies, unit personnel, and Canine Handler Training Course personnel. Required to attend seminars/courses to further personal knowledge and schedule the same for handlers. Responsible for requesting training equipment, food, and medical supplies for MWDs on proper customer forms. Responsible for maintaining all training equipment, food, and medical supplies for MWDs in the program. Personnel must have experience in the training and handling of detection (narcotics and/or explosives) and standard patrol dogs. Personnel must be experience with the training of handlers and the development of Programs of Instruction (POI). Personnel must be experienced with the training and employment of tracking dogs. Functional understanding of how to properly utilize, handle and transport explosives used to train MWDs in explosive detection training. Travel will be a necessary part of the job and time away from home is required.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Personnel must be a graduate of the Military Training/Canine Trainer course or their civilian equivalents.
 

Desired skills

Military experience or experience working with or for US Military and Special Operations Forces is desired. Military or police experience is desired but not required.
