Location: Palm Springs, CA
Reports to: Building Operations and Facilities Manager
Status: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
Position Purpose:
To ensure the safety of employees and guests in our building. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures locks and unlocks doors, assists in the Emergency Department, remains alert for fire and safety hazards, controls access into the facility, responds to all emergency codes and helps enforce hospital policies. Performs similar duties to provide a safe and secure hospital environment for patients, employees, and visitors. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Principal Responsibilities:
Patrol building and premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates;
Answer alarms and investigate disturbances;
Monitor entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises;
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences;
Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons;
Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property;
Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering;
Monitor security cameras for inappropriate activity;
Notify Maxwell Security for any unruly persons we need assistance with to remove them from the premises;
Participate as Crisis Intervention Team member to respond to staff crisis buttons;
Accept deliveries and contact appropriate department to pick up;
Responds rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or health care setting;
Training, Experience
Must be 21 years of age or older;
Current valid California Driver’s License;
Must have security guard experience; Preferred: 2 years security related experience in a healthcare setting or related field.
License/Certifications
American Heart Association BLS required within 90 day orientation period;
Must have a California Guard Card
