Event Protection Lead - Executive Protection Specialist

Role
Based in New York the Event protection Lead – Executive Protection Specialist will be responsible for:

1. Coordinating and providing security coverage for BlackRock Corporate Events
2. Providing executive protection to key BlackRock executives in NY and while on business
travel
Detail on these areas is outlined below:
Corporate Event Security Coverage
The person selected for this role will be responsible for coordinating our activities related to Corporate Events. This includes maintaining close liaison with the Corporate Events team and reviewing all global events on a monthly basis to determine which events require security coverage. The selected candidate will be responsible for working with the security team and security vendors to ensure that security is provided as needed. Based on the event characteristics, the selected candidate will at times be required to provide security for events and to oversee other resources in their provision of security.

The position will be responsible for maintaining relationships with law enforcement agencies and security providers in order to ensure our ability to cover events and obtain assistance when required.

In order to succeed in this role the successful applicant will require excellent judgment, strong communications skills, the ability to partner with groups outside of Corporate Security and the ability to know when to communicate and escalate issues. The candidate will be capable of successfully partnering with key stakeholders and will have a strong awareness of the BlackRock Corporate Culture and the ability to determine measures that are appropriate in that environment. The successful candidate will have a successful track record interacting with all levels of management with an emphasis on engaging to the satisfaction of senior stakeholders.


Executive Protection
The role is also responsible for providing executive protection for executives located in the NY office. This includes managing security in our executive space, providing close protection when required and delivering transportation services including driving and arranging third party transportation.

The role will require onsite coordination with executive office staff, close coordination with the global travel team, coordination of vendor resources and collaboration with BlackRock staff and third party security personnel at other firms.

This role requires experience and expertise dealing with senior executives and their administrative staff and excellent judgment balancing the requirement to maintain confidentiality with the need to escalate issues and concerns. This role will require the ability to react to emergency situations involving global executive travel.

Reporting
The position will report into the Americas Head of Corporate Security.

Responsibilities:
Manage the global event protection program including review of events, prioritization, and allocation of resources
Provide security at corporate events and oversee staff and vendors providing security at those events
Manage budget and costs related to corporate events
Provide executive protection services including trip planning, advance work, driver services, close protection, event coverage and coverage for business trips
Oversee security in executive office space
Oversee and manage local vendors, including the acquisition of new vendors as necessary
Maintain strong ties with Local, State and Federal Government law enforcement officials to ensure BlackRock is able to respond appropriately to events or crises. A special emphasis is required in the NY City area where we maintain our global headquarters
Provide security support and advice to the BlackRock Events staff for meetings and events within the region for the purpose of protecting the people attending as well as the protection of the firm’s reputation.
React and advise on regional security developments and security incidents.
o Promote security awareness and instills a culture of collective and individual responsibilities for
practicing good security at all times.
o Create and deliver Security training to employees and security staff.

Knowledge/Experience/Requirements:
Requires a minimum of 10 years in the public safety, law enforcement or security field.
Requires experience working for C-Suite executives in the provision of executive protection
Requires executive driving experience and experience providing advance coverage for events and trips
Requires experience providing services for corporate events
The position is based in New York City. Candidates must live in the NYC metropolitan area. No relocation assistance will be offered.
Requires in-depth experience interacting with senior management. Good judgment is essential as is the ability to know when to escalate issues and involve additional stakeholders.
Must be available during evenings and weekends to respond to unexpected emergencies and situations at any of Blackrock’s locations globally, especially in the NYC area.
