The Head of Security is responsible for hiring, assigning, developing, coordinating, influencing, leading and measuring all corporate Security programs, personnel, contractors and consultants. This role is responsible for the strategic identification and evaluation of all hazards, both manmade and natural, security risks, threats and vulnerabilities as well as related programming to prevent, protect against or mitigate harm to people, assets, property, product and brand reputation.
The Head of Security is responsible for ensuring AAM’s security programs meet or exceed industry standards and they comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the country or jurisdiction where the facility is located. The Head of Security reports to the Executive Director of Global Facilities and acts as the company liaison to Environmental Health and Safety, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, General Counsel and fire/law enforcement authorities.
The duties and core responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develops and implements strategies to identify, assess, prevent, protect and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities to safeguard Associates, assets, product and property, globally.
Develops and implements, manages, advises, surveys or audits all security programs, policies and procedures.
Acts as the resource and ensures compliance with all established physical security policies and procedures.
Either directly or assists in the contracting for, manages, develops or provides performance oversight for all security service providers, consultants and contractors.
Develops metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of all security programs and personnel.
Provides oversight for proven practice informed standards and guidance including access control for company offices/facilities, management of employee identification badge programs and guidance for of the selection, installation and maintenance of security systems (e.g., alarms, access control and video/audio surveillance equipment) and all related services.
Reviews, informs specifies and ensures contract requirements and performance capabilities, service level agreements and metrics reporting criteria for all security contractors and services.
Works with HR and Safety in developing awareness efforts for Associates, contractors and visitors to establish a safe environment to prevent or mitigate security and safety incidents including workplace violence.
Supports leadership in the development and maintenance of business continuity and crisis management/incident command programs, including planning and conducting exercises with first responders.
May be requested to act as lead or technical support for major incident investigations involving security related incidents.
Develop Security budget and be able to forecast needs to support business goals and objectives.
Remain current with ongoing security practices.
Ensure protocols for 24 hour response and notifications for alarms, emergencies or other critical incidents.
Manages relationships with third party vendors for security services.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in business, management, criminal justice or related field; advance degrees or industry certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional) a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible security management or related experience in risk/security management.
Be able to demonstrate ability and performance history for working to meet and exceed assigned objectives, on budget, including management of third party service providers.
Knowledge and experience with Emergency Preparedness, Critical Incident Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery principles and programs.
Experience in international security a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communications as well as interpersonal social skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and tools.
Ability to be on call 24/7.
Ability to travel 25% of time or as needed.
