The primary goal of this program is to provide subject matter expertise and training support to assist Combined Security Transition Command Afghanistan (CSTC-A) and NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan (NSOCC-A) through Special Operations Task Force- Afghanistan (SOTF-A) and Afghan National Army Special Operations Command-Special Operations Advisory Group (ANASOC-SOAG), in the execution of their mission. The mission is to train ANASOC units to perform their duties and responsibilities independent of Coalition assistance. This program is currently programmed as an Enduring Mission.
The Secure Signal Trainer will directly train, advise, and assist (TAAM) the Division G6 Section on all duties and responsibilities for HF, VHF, and UHF radio training and education at the ANASOC Division G6.
The Signal Trainer will advise, assist and train the Division Signal NCOs/Officers on their duties and responsibilities in UHF, VHF and HF radio training and education, develop training management, develop training doctrine, and conduct/integrate training assessments (Task, Conditions, and Standards), and Develop sustainment training systems.
He will assist in developing and Training Support Packages (TSPs); manage Program of Instruction (POI) for communication classes; execute Command & Signal Operations; maintain effective VHF, HF and UHF.
MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The trainer will have a background in military tactical communications systems at the battalion level or higher; E-7 thru E-9/CW2/O-4 or higher with 10 years or more experience in the communications field; appropriate levels of experience in planning, installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and providing instruction on new and existing HF, VHF, and UHF communications systems antennas, and supporting equipment.
Knowledge, understanding, and training on Harris Radio family (7800, 7850 series) and Tactical and Gateway Nodes.
The trainer will be capable of providing guidance and direction in the development of a comprehensive Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4I) Infrastructure; Experienced in the design of a C4I network diagram; Provide guidance with the development of the Signal Annex of the Operations Order and CEOI/SOI; provide guidance on the development of communications networks and network management; experienced in all aspects of frequency management and Information Management; must have a knowledge of basic computer and network operations and Microsoft office software; Experience advising and working with allied military and civilian personnel.
The Trainer will be a Military certified instructor (ITC, SOIC) and must have a current DoD Secret security clearance and a minimum one year of experience in Afghanistan.
Must be capable of performing analyses of system operations and performing training.
Must have knowledge of and experience in the operations of hardware systems and components.
Must have experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components.
Must be capable of routine system maintenance and analysis functions including: hardware configurations; adding, removing and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic testing tools; installing computer OS, and repairing printed circuit boards.
Must be capable of conducting new equipment fielding of future radio systems.
Other duties as assigned by Program management.
Possesses strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with peers, direct reports, and supervisors at all times.
Applicants must be able to pass CENTCOM medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements at an approved CRC. Applicants must be in possession of a current/active US tourist Passport (with further eligibility to receive – if not already in possession of – a current Afghanistan visa). If candidate is already deployed, he/she must supply appropriate documentation satisfying these requirements along with confirmation that he/she is in physical possession of government-issued PPE to demonstrate compliance with CENTCOM deployment requirements.
Willing to work and live in Afghanistan and understand they can be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government
Willingness to work in hostile areas without a weapon
Willingness to deploy and live on forward operating bases without regular U.S. Post/Base Exchange and Commissary facilities.
Previous experience training foreign military soldiers.
Deployed operational experience in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT)
