Description:
Communications Training Instructor. The training will be conducted at multiple countries in the AFRICOM AOR. This is an 8 week project in AFRICOM, then returns to home location. You get paid while in AFRICOM only, not while you are home based waiting to return OCONUS again. There is no set schedule yet, but, the first 8 week rotation will begin in February, 2015. This is an hourly position as no benefits will be available. This is the perfect position for retired military who already is familar with HF radios and who can provide basic maintenance and user instruction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-To formulate and execute Communications training programs, specifically operator and maintenance training for Codan HF radios and repair and maintenance support to include the following topics: Health and Safety (Electrical Safety, Site Set Up, and General Safety), HF theory, Site Selection/Installation, NGT SRX Operations, HF Data Modem, Codan Chat, and Preventive Maintenance.
-Assess training requirements, identify and evaluate training alternatives, develop training materials to include a variety of training approaches: traditional classroom, programmed learning, hands-on, simulation, video, audio, and computer aided training- Instruct personnel from prepared course material.
-Ensure program requirements/activities are executed and compliant within established scope, schedule, and budget.
Required Qualifications:
-Communications Specialist will have an established background with communications systems, applicable military service, and proven operational experience utilizing HF radio.
-Appropriate certifications of training, supporting their skill set, as well as past experience in training or mentoring of personnel is expected.
- It is preferred that the Communications Specialist is a Codan Radio Communications Certified Field Service Representative / Trainer.
-Must have experience working with or for government agencies. -Current Secret security clearance.
Physical Demands:
The Training Specialist is required to travel to combat zones; therefore, the physical and health standards (FITNESS FOR DUTY AND MEDICAL/DENTAL CARE LIMITATIONS (APR 2010) are required. The contractor shall not deploy an individual with any of the following conditions unless approved by the appropriate Service Component Surgeon: Conditions which prevent the wear of personal protective equipment, including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor, and chemical/biological protective garments; conditions which prohibit required theater immunizations or medications; conditions or current medical treatment or medications that contraindicate or preclude the use of chemical and biological protective and antidotes; diabetes mellitus, Type I or II, on pharmacological therapy; symptomatic coronary artery disease, or with myocardial infarction within one year prior to deployment, or within six months of coronary artery bypass graft, coronary artery angioplasty, or stenting; morbid obesity (BMI >/= 40); dysrhythmias or arrhythmias, either symptomatic or requiring medical or electrophysiological control; uncontrolled hypertension, current heart failure, or automatic implantable defibrillator; therapeutic anticoagulation; malignancy, newly diagnosed or under current treatment, or recently diagnosed/treated and requiring frequent subspecialist surveillance, examination, and/or laboratory testing; dental or oral conditions requiring or likely to require urgent dental care within six monthstime, active orthodontic care, conditions requiring prosthodontic care, conditions with immediate restorative dentistry needs, conditions with a current requirement for oral-maxillofacial surgery; new onset (< 1 year) seizure disorder, or seizure within one year prior to deployment; history of heat stroke; Meniere’s Disease or other vertiginous/motion sickness disorder, unless well controlled on medications available in theater; recurrent syncope, ataxias, new diagnosis (< 1 year) of mood disorder, thought disorder, anxiety, somatoform, or dissociative disorder, or personality disorder with mood or thought manifestations; unrepaired hernia; tracheostomy or aphonia; renalithiasis, current; active tuberculosis; pregnancy; unclosed surgical defect, such as external fixeter placement; requirement for medical devices using AC power; HIV antibody positivity; psychotic and bipolar disorders.
Education:
Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and seven to nine years of related (training) experience.
