Qualifications:
3-5+ years of relevant professional experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Experience interpreting Federal, State, and local regulations developing and implementing protocols to ensure compliance with those regulations (e.g. 49 CFR 1542)
Experience with aerospace industry processes is highly desirable
Successful in recognizing hazardous or potential security problems impacting passenger handling, and ongoing spaceline operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software applications
Talent to coordinate and liaise multiple activities with a culturally diverse audience and throughout all levels of the corporate organization
Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to develop and deliver articulate presentations to groups of all sizes and levels; technical writing experience preferred
Recognized qualifications or certification in one, or more of the following areas: Dangerous Goods certification/ Investigations / Internal Evaluation Programs / Audit / Security Risk Management/ Training
Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis for incident/accident investigations
Ability to establish and maintain partnerships across functional areas
Ability to serve as a mentor and coach to others
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may occasionally include early or late start times and very infrequently weekends
Ability to respond to serious emergency situations, but 24/7 on‐call is not required
Must be a “U.S. person” as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15)
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, criminal justice, or aerospace science is strongly preferred
Highly Desirable Certifications include: Occupational Health and Safety Technologist, Safety Trained

Responsibilities:
Emergency Response:
In cooperation with emergency response team post holders, continuously improve the design and management of the Virgin Galactic emergency response framework to affect a well-coordinated, ‘all-hazards methodology’ corporate response.
Author and maintain the Galactic Ventures Corporate Emergency Response Manual containing: policies, procedures, organization, notification, security, communication, command and control, initial response, and integrated response checklists. Enhance the ERPs capabilities through joint planning, training, and exercise to ensure sustainment of a prepared response.
Participate in design and maintenance of the corporate Emergency Operations Center (EOC), including layout, equipment, and procedures. Utilize a collaborative approach to building EOCs capabilities.
Design and coordinate multi-modal emergency notification processes and “virtual” EOC response checklist procedures utilizing Mission Mode communication tools. Enable decision makers to make operating decisions based on unified understanding of events and surrounding conditions.
Security Management
In cooperation with Virgin Galactic senior leadership, support systems design and management of an effective Security Management System protecting Spaceline customers, personnel and assets from any act of unlawful interference or related unlawful act
Provide corporate direction on security measures required, and best practices, while assuring compliance with regulatory requirements of evolving spaceline operations.
Establish a security department and structure its roles and responsibilities as they pertain to spaceline operations.
Perform risk analysis, threat assessment and counter measures associated with an operational SeMS
In conjunction with the Virgin Galactic Safety Team, develop proactive annual safety and security plans that provide solutions necessary to build and sustain a world‐class safety culture and formal Safety Management System.
