The
Global Security Manager provides leadership and technical expertise for
developing, implementing and administering an enterprise-wide
investigative strategy and security program for Dow Jones. In this
position, the successful candidate will be entrusted with the
responsibility for developing and advocating global security
investigative policy, governance, standards and operational
investigative measures to minimize loss and limit exposure. This
position provides leadership to the News Corp/Dow Jones Global Security
Operations Center (GSOC). The position provides all Dow Jones and News
Corp Businesses and locations with the necessary framework, standards,
processes and guidance to ensure consistent and operative
investigations. The Global Security Manager will provide leadership to
Dow Jones and News Corp special events. The position may require up to 30% travel.
The Global Security manager will play an instrumental role in strengthening the Dow Jones and News Corp global security supply chain network by engaging in risk assessment and mitigation strategies that protect people, business operations and company assets. The chosen candidate will identify, assess and prioritize efforts to mitigate and manage risk, while continually adapting our security posture according to the changing security and operational environment of our business. The position will also manage all corporate investigations domestically and internationally.

The Global Security Manager provides a blend of technical expertise, staff leadership, and project management skills to help ensure the success of the department. Areas of specific focus include:
- Development and leadership of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) and global intelligence capability that serves the requirements of the business, with a proactive posture to identify current threats, and to prevent and deter security incidents
- Supporting day to day security operations, to include management oversight of both proprietary and contract security personnel, and developing incident response protocols and special security event management plans
- Developing and implementing a robust case management system for Dow Jones and News Corp, with built in metrics to identify global trends for risk mitigation strategies
- Managing and investigating security related incidents and crimes committed against Dow Jones and News Corporation nationally and globally in coordination with Legal Counsel, Human Resources, and/or other departments, as appropriate
- Identifying global control weaknesses through the investigative process, and recommending improved internal controls and process improvements to systems
- Performing and coordinating physical security risk assessments of Dow Jones and News Corp company locations to identify and recommend the most appropriate and cost effective security systems to satisfy security requirements
- Assisting in the oversight and development of effective security measures for staff working abroad, to include journalists in hostile environments
- Provide security leadership to Dow Jones and News Corp special events and conferences as directed
- Provide detailed, relevant and concise reporting, as well as actionable advice to senior leadership regarding security concerns
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field ; An advanced degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience working in the security field, such as a corporate security manager or law enforcement officer; global experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years staff management, supervisor, or team lead experience is required. Experience developing, monitoring and mentoring junior staff/security officers, and developing staff training programs.
- Must be familiar with security and investigative technologies, such as video systems, case management software, and forensic evidence collection equipment.
- Must understand information security concepts, protocols, “industry best practices” and strategies. Experience working with law enforcement, State Department (Overseas Security Advisory Council- OSAC) and corporate legal, human resources, facilities, and internal/external audit departments.
- Experience developing policies, comprehensive plans, initiatives, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with project and application development teams, management teams, and clients.
- Must have business experience, project management skills, understand business drivers and be able to translate business needs into workable project plans.
- Must have excellent judgment and integrity
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and people while ensuring strategic focus is maintained in order to accomplish department goals and business objectives.
- High levels of presentation and interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven staff leadership skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people including business unit managers and senior executives.
- A willingness to be available as needed and travel on short notice, both domestically and internationally.
- A highly motivated and flexible self-starter, who is focused, energetic, able to meet deadlines, and be willing to take ownership of assigned projects and cases. A team player who understands how to build consensus
