Mission Statement
The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement, as required for the people, facilities, infrastructure and other resources at the Pentagon Reservation and Department of Defense (DoD) activities and DoD-leased facilities not under the jurisdiction of a Military Department within the National Capital Region (NCR) (hereinafter referred to as “the Pentagon Facilities”). This includes addressing the full spectrum of potential threats through robust prevention, preparedness, detection, and response measures. PFPA uses an integrated approach to perform its critical mission, bringing together functions such as chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear detection and response, law enforcement, physical security, anti-terrorism/force protection, and surveillance detection. PFPA operates in an environment that requires close coordination between multiple local, state and Federal agencies.

DUTIES:
As a Senior Law Enforcement Advisor you will be responsible for the following duties:
Serve as a Senior Law Enforcement (LE) Advisor for the Director, PFPA
Provide subject-matter expertise in the various areas of LE, force protection and security operations to enable the PFPA Director to make informed operational decisions
Analyze conflicting and divergent viewpoints in order to provide full and accurate background information to the PFPA Director
Develop strategies to ensure PFPA’s resources are effectively and efficiently focuses on LE and force protection matters
Evaluate the work of private and public organizations dedicated to DoD LE, security studies and force protection
Coordinate intra-agency LE groups for PFPA to ensure integration of efforts and alignment of LE initiatives between the Principal Assistant Director for LE, the Assistant Director for Mission Integration, the Assistant for Security Integration and Technology, and the Assistant Director for Threat Management program areas
Serve as a liaison with and represents the PFPA Director at meetings with other DoD, Office of the Secretary of Defense, state, local, academic, private sector, professional, and Federal organizations of LE, force protection, and security related matters
Keep abreast of current developments in the national and international security, laws and regulations pertaining to LE, security and force protection issues

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
You must have one year Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private/military sector) giving the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Experience must be reflected in your resume.
Specialized experience required for this position is:
Serve as a senior advisor to senior leadership on law enforcement, force program and security matters
Develop strategies on law enforcement and force protection matters
Analyze law enforcement laws, policies and regulations from a wide variety of sources
Develop plans law enforcement, force protection and security operations

Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:
Knowledge of law enforcement, security and force protections laws, policies, practices and precedents
Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative analytical and evaluation methods to improve force protection operation’s programs
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to convey law enforcement, force protection and security technical information

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for merit promotion consideration. Time-in-grade is the 52-week requirement Federal employees in competitive service, General Schedule (GS) positions at GS-5 and above must serve before they are eligible for promotion (advancement) to the next grade level. The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION CRITICAL EMPLOYEE. Mission Critical employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations (e.g. building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor.



This position is subject to the DoD Drug Free Workplace Program. If you decline to take the drug test, it will be considered a declination for employment. The selectee must test negative for the presence of illegal drugs before placement in the position, and will be subject to random drug testing thereafter. If a determination of the use of illegal drugs is confirmed in this position or other testing designated positions in DoD, non-selection or disciplinary action, up to and including removal from Federal service, may result. All tentative selectees for this position will be required to undergo a urinalysis test to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

This position is designated special sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R and therefore requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated for security eligibility on a pre-appointment basis. This requirement may take 120 days or longer to process. The incumbent must complete a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and favorable adjudication by a determining authority and be eligible for a Top Secret clearance and access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
