Position Overview and Description of Key Role:
Archimedes Global, Inc. is currently recruiting a Physical Security Specialist (Explosives
Operations) to join our Strategy and Operations Division at Quantico, VA. Qualified candidates will be required to assist in on-site disposal and render safe operations of IEDs and related forensic materials. These duties and assignments must be performed collaboratively as part of an integrated work force consisting of Government and other contractor staff. These duties and assignments must also be performed in a shared Government work space that supports other criminal and national security investigations.
Physical Security Specialists (Explosives Operations) will apply knowledge of military and commercial explosives, chemicals, and electrical circuits to render safe and handle live explosive devices. Physical Security Specialists (Explosive Operations) will interact and collaborate with other group/team members and other forensic staff to ensure safe operations and working environment.
The selected candidate assigned to this position must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks in loading and storing explosives which are contained in storage containers, on pallets, or in heavy containers. Work occasionally requires long periods of standing and walking with periods of stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The incumbent is subject to noise and fumes from test operations. Exposure also includes the possibility of explosions or burning items which are experimental, defective, or operating at
the limits of their capability. Protective clothing, such as specially treated coveralls, safety shoes, and safety glasses are worn at various times.
Selected candidate shall assist in performing a range of work involving many different and unrelated processes related to improvised explosive device (IED) and explosives ordnance defeat and render safe
operations.
The following services shall be provided by Physical Security Specialists (Explosives Operations):
Assist in disposal/render safe operations.
Provide expert advice regarding device construction and functioning
Successfully render safe and/or dispose live explosive devices safe in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, methods, and procedures.
Assist in the proper transport and storage of explosive devices and materials in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, methods, and procedures.
Assist in conducting comprehensive assessments.
Prepare detailed documentation and reports.
Maintain proper chain of custody of all forensic material under
examination.
Minimum Requirements:
2+ years experience as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician working with on-site disposal and render safe operations
Current Top Secret security clearance
Graduate of a formal Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) training course of instruction
Valid Driver’s License for the state in which candidate resides
Ability to lift and carry items weighing approximately 25 lbs
Ability to drive and operate a forklift and other warehouse equipment
Preferred Requirements:
4+ years experience as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technical working with on-site disposal and render safe operations
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, industrial safety, or similar discipline from an accredited college/university)
Recent OIF/OEF combat EOD deployment
Completion of DOD/DOJ Homemade Explosive COI
