Job Description:
The Security System Technician (SST) is to provide technical support (install, maintain, and repair) to all technical security assets including radars, access control, CCTV etc. that are being used to detect, monitor and record movements/ intrusions; and preparing and maintaining equipment logs. The ST is required to be competent and able to provide Tier 1 maintenance (including installing, trouble shooting, resetting, restarting and testing all minor defects) and Tier 2 maintenance (more major technical defects) working under general technical guidance from the Technical Security Lead.
Dimensions:
Majnoon concession that is about 50 km long and 15 km wide
Current one radar but expanding to 6 and more radars in future
Access control devices including readers, turnstiles, servers, connections, FO etc.
Basic CCTV maintenance and minor repairs
Install, analyze, interrogate, detect, track, report, coordinate and record all faults and repair.
Preventive and minor maintenance of radars, access control, CCTV and other technical aids.
Record, update and maintain logs and records
Working with a team of other security technician, and radar operators in the TOC
Organisation: Security The SIPD SST will work directly for the Technical Security Lead and at times may be required to take advice from /coordinate with specialist vendors / consultants. The SST is expected to work/coordinate with the TOC Manager, Radar operators in the TOC especially on technical support to ensure 24/7/365 operations of Technical Security Assets.
Principal Accountabilities: The Security Systems Technician must be able to:
Works on various types of electronic equipment (radar, access control, CCTV etc.) and related devices by performing a combination of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying and testing.
Works on various types of communication including Cat 5, 5e, 6, fibre optic cables, telephone cables, including installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying and testing.
Maintains, trouble shoots, repair and where required minor overhauls radars, access controls and other electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog computers, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines, electrical power supplies and keying circuits, indicators and displays, and antenna positioning.
Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve basic problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment.
Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and effects repairs to restore equipment to required operating condition. Troubleshoots to the component level and makes needed repairs.
Maintaining stock levels of consumable stores and tools, by conducting stock-takes and drafting stores requests.
Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
Key Challenges: - Initially on a 5/2 work pattern and later into 12 hour shifts and potentially long hours to provide coverage for operations that are 24/7,365. - Able to live away from home when on shift - Work under stress and potentially over long periods to get critical equipment back into working conditions. - Must have keen interest and technically inclined.
Requirements Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Education: - Minimum secondary technical education/experience. Higher technical education has added advantages - Ability to speak and write English - Experience in radar operations and/or maintenance of electronic equipment added advantage - Well versed with MS Office
