Responsibilities and Duties
Instruct the Mine Detection Dog Course
This is a contingent position based on contract award and funding from the customer.
Minimum Tangible Qualifications:
Possess an understanding of current U.S. Army operational environments and explosive hazard threats in those environments.
Possess the ability to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language.
Have a U.S. Army Instructor Training Course (ITC) certificate or one or more of the following instructor’s course certifications:
USAF Basic Instructor Course (RIC) issued by USAF Air Education and Training Command (AETC);
United States Marine Corps (USMC) Train the Trainer Course (T3) issued by the USMC Training and Education Command (TECOM);
United States Navy (USN) Journeyman Instructor Training Course or the Navy Instructor Training Course issued by the USN Navy Education and Training Command (NETC);
Australian Army Explosive Detection Dog and Handler Trainer’s Course issued by the Australian Engineer School; or the British Army Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3
Dog Trainer Course by the British Army Defence Animal Centre.
Have at least four years experience training students on doctrinal and non-doctrinal military counter explosive hazards operational procedures.
Have at least four years experience training dogs to perform landmine detection in military explosive detection operations.
Have at least five years of experience working dogs and handlers to United Nations (UN) standards.
Have successfully completed a formal explosive detection dog handler course that must consist of a minimum of eight (8) full time consecutive weeks such as:
United Kingdom Defence Animal Centre;
Department of Defense (DoD) Military Working Dog Training Center;
U.S. Customs/U.S. Customs and Border Protection Center;
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) Center.
