RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Experienced technical writer to support Mine Detection Dog product development.
Experienced candidates will edit, write, and/or rewrite technical documentation, publications, presentations, program of instruction and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively research findings, technical developments, and other news and information to a wide range of internal and external audiences.
Technical writing responsibilities, at a high level, are to follow a documentation/publishing process to create the highest quality documentation deliverables as dictated by the overall product release project plan milestones.
Conduct audience analysis to identify needs of the users and interview subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and design/format of documentation.
Conduct analysis on technical writing/publishing technologies to introduce new technologies to the technical writing process and provide user friendly documentation deliverables electronically and in print.
This is a contingent position based on contract award and funding from the customer.
MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Expert understanding of the Mine Dog Detection Course instruction and counter explosive hazards.
Must be proficient in reviewing and analyzing multiple documents in various media to research and garner pertinent information
Must be proficient in developing compliance matrices ensure 100% compliance with published doctrine with minimal supervision
Must have a very strong proficiency using MS Office products, primarily Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must possess excellent English oral and written communication skills.
Ability to understand and produce technical documentation.
Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration and teamwork.
Experience organizing and translating information into clearly written documentation
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work well with others, maintain professional and calm approach, and coordinate across teams.
Analyze requirements, develop source materials, and consult SMEs, editors, and illustrators while preparing technical documents
Attend relevant technical meetings and perform assigned tasks as required
Ability to schedule and organize team meetings and provide meeting notes as contract deliverables
Ability to consolidate raw, feature-focused documentation into comprehensive, system-wide documentation
Demonstrated knowledge of Mission Essential Task Lists (METL), warfighter training support packages (WTSP), and familiarity with mine detection dog training and/or counter improvised explosive device hazards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
SECRET clearance
Experience working in agile or iterative development environment with frequent user interaction
Experience working on a software development team that has used tools and processes to track and manage work
