Job Description
ABB is seeking a Region Security Manager to lead and manage the security team throughout North America and drive accountability at all levels of the company through cooperation and collaboration with internal and
external stakeholders.ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies and the Security department supports employees developing everything from safer mines and transformers to highly-skilled robots.
Note: The location for this position is flexible: the successful candidate can work out of any major US ABB location.
Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide ABB’s North American region with a security and resilience capability that will promote business continuity and maximize the company’s ability to operate in a variety of challenging environments.
• Focus on protecting all activities.
• Prioritize the safety of personal from inside and outside the region, while at work, on projects, and traveling.
• Emphasize protection for the company’s assets and reputation.
• Travel to other countries in North, Central, and South America.
• Maintain full governance structure for security within the North American organization.
• Lead and coordinate implementation of competent functional country support, in accordance with the region security plan and shared services throughout the region.
• Collect, analyze, and report on performance, utilizing Group Security Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Oversee and lead process of tracking, assessing, and reporting on emerging security trends and related legislation.
• Ensure thorough inspections, audits, and reviews are compliant with security standards, regulations, and guidelines.
• Maintain internal and third-party audit requirements.
• Contribute to effective risk management of security-related issues by providing specialist knowledge and advice on key business decisions.
• Drive behavioral change to continuously improve security performance through coordinated group-wide programs and initiatives.
• Facilitate the sharing of best practices, and apply group standardized processes to deliver consistent security support.
• Engage external (eg, customers, suppliers, relevant authorities, and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders in order to report on, raise awareness, and gain commitment on the company’s security efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback.
• Cooperate with other functions and business partners to improve security measures.
• Participate in defining the annual budget and manage performance against agreed financial targets and constraints.
• Ensure that the area of responsibility is organized, staffed, trained, and directed.
• Guide, motivate, and develop direct/indirect subordinates within Human Resources policies.
• Participate in hiring decisions.
• Deliver annual plans and lead implementation of security and crisis management objectives in alignment with the company’s strategy.
• Provide short-, mid-, and long-term security analyses on the developments within the region.
• Oversee serious incidents and ensure root-cause analyses and corrective actions are identified and implemented.
• Plan and execute projects.
• Develop and report on project objectives.
• Manage project resources, such as manpower, financials, and other relevant factors.
• Develop and implement global and regional security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures as a member of the Group Security Council.
• Develop and implement regional security strategies to build and embed a security culture within the region through regional programs of organizational resilience, safe and secure workplaces, physical security, and travel security.
• Under the umbrella of the Group Cyber Security Council, define and operate a resilient and coordinated cyber security market position.
• Act as Regional Crisis Coordinator, directly supporting the Region Manager.
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
• Four-year degree.
• 15 years security experience.
• 5 years of experience working at a senior level and leading a team of employees in a global organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated incident management skills and understanding of crisis response methodologies.
• Ability to work at a senior level in a matrix and global organization.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Project management skills and experience.
• Master’s.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Ability to travel more than 30%.
