We are currently seeking a part time Security Officer. This position located in West Jefferson, OH.

Job Summary :
The selected individual will be required to meet specific qualifications to wear a firearm at our West Jefferson location.  They will perform duties related to the enforcement of security regulations and procedures to protect Battelle staff and property under close supervision and instruction while training to become proficient in the operation of all security and safety monitoring devices and systems. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Training to be proficient in operation of security and close circuit television systems and other control center devices
  • Identifying safety and security violations and ensures they are reported to the appropriate authority
  • Checking identification of persons entering and leaving the premises and protecting buildings against illegal entry
  • Participating in conducting confidential investigations, enforcing traffic and parking regulations as required
  • Intervening in situations requiring minimal action to safeguard property and persons
  • Touring of both the interior and exterior of the facility and assuring timely response to all alarm situations
  • Operating and monitoring a security console
  • Maintaining regular entry records and journals
  • Driving a vehicle from location to location

THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 90% of work shift
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance
  • Candidates must be a able to pass a psychological screening to be eligible for carrying a firearm
  • Candidates must qualify and meet the standards in the use of a firearm as defined by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be courtesy, tactful and effective in dealing with others
  • Ability to meet all specialized training standards and physical fitness and health standards as defined by government regulation
  • Must have a valid driver’s Ohio driver’s license

The following is desired ,but not required to be considered for this position:
  • OPOTA Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant security environment
