Engility Corporation in partnership with the Dept. of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Program is seeking a law Enforcement Advisor to Join our Team in South Africa!
ICITAP is a law enforcement development organization whose mission is to work with foreign governments to develop effective, professional, and transparent law enforcement capacity that protects human rights, combats corruption, and reduces the threat of transnational crime and terrorism, in support of U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives.
Minimum Tangible Qualifications:
Must be a US Citizen to be considered
Must be able to obtain a public trust waiver to be considered
Bachelors or advanced degree from an accredited university; ideally in a law-enforcement-related field of study, such as criminal justice, police science, or forensic science.
Equivalent law enforcement training will be considered in lieu of a college degree, contingent upon the training. Examples of such training may include the FBI Academy at Quantico; homicide, drug, and other specialized investigative training; executive management programs; public manager certifications; details/assignments spent with federal agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration; police training academy commandant, etc.
15-20 years as a sworn law enforcement officer in a U.S. law enforcement organization, whether federal, state, or local. Candidates ideally will have held the rank of chief of police, deputy chief of police, commander, major, captain, or lieutenant or the equivalent to these ranks, or the candidate should have served at least 10 years as a criminal investigator in homicide and other areas.
Former military candidates should be able to demonstrate experience as a lieutenant or above in a law and order assignment in which they conducted and supervised/managed criminal investigations; law enforcement-related training; working within a training academy; and internal affairs investigations.
Must possess knowledge of the operations of a U.S. law enforcement agency such as patrol, criminal investigations, internal affairs, recruiting, training and training academy management, budgeting and finance, and/or forensics and crime scene management.
This is an embedded position and must be willing to relocate to South Africa
Preferred Qualification
Past experience as a law enforcement trainer or police training academy commander is highly desirable.
Experience in international law enforcement development work in Africa is desirable, to include work with U.S. Africa Command, United Nations, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Justice, etc.
