Job Description
The Installation Security Specialist works daily with Soldiers, Government Employees, and Contractors in providing customer service. The Security Specialist routinely reviews and processes various security forms and uses many different government and commercial programs to complete daily tasks. The Security Specialist uses subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence. This employee selects from alternative methods and refers problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures. Facilitate the day to day operations of the consolidated installation privately owned vehicle (POV) storage lot. Act as the point of contact for the POV storage lot. Typical duties include: assisting in a variety of administrative matters; maintaining a wide variety of records (stored both manually and electronically); verifying statistical reports for accuracy and completeness; compiling information; and handling and adjusting complaints; carrying a government issue cell phone for remote accessibility to answer customer questions and schedule appointments while on duty.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Administratively review and process security forms
Conduct security checks through the (JPAS), Security Investigative Index (SII), the Army Central
Clearance Facility (ACCF), COPS, EDAS, e-TOPMIS, Security Clearance Access Rosters (SCAR) databases
Submit appropriate investigations as required by Chief, Installation Security Office
Prepare, manage, and update security rosters and internal databases
Assist personnel in completion of the Personnel Security Investigation Portal (PSIP)
Assist personnel in completion of Deployment and Reconstitution Tracking Software (DARTS)
Perform fingerprinting using either the Digit 10 Identicator system or the Identix Touch Print system (Live Scan)
Designate areas within the POV storage lot and assign those areas for use
Open and secure POV storage lot
Operate gasoline generator and air compressor
Issue small tools and battery charge box and maintain accountability of equipment
Write, update and submit POV storage lot usage reports
Minimum Required Skills, Education, Experience & Abilities:
Must possess a valid, current Secret security clearance.
Must have the ability to work at an accelerated pace
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel
Must have a full, strong, proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite
Must have proven customer service skills
Must have strong working knowledge of Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS)
Must be capable of starting a generator
Possess a valid driver’s license, no more than two driving citations in the last two years and meet the requirements to drive on JBLM.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically sedentary in nature, performed in an office setting and outside under all weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
Requires sitting or standing for long periods of time, repetitive typing, and may lift up to 50 lbs.
