(12) Instructors to teach the following courses in the Hampton Roads area: Waterborne Security Boat Level II, Visit Board Search and Seizure and Harbor Security Boat Training Supervisor opening in the Hampton Roads area for Waterborne Security Boat Instructors.
Experience: Must have one (or more) of the following qualifications:• Navy NEC 9502 (Instructor), or
• Navy NEC 9518 (Naval Leadership Development Program (NAVLEAD) Instructor, or
• Graduate of one of the following courses of instruction:
- Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC) (A-012-0077)
- Instructional Delivery Continuum (IDC) Journeyman Instructor Training (JIT) Mobile Training Team (A-012-1011)
- Naval Leadership Facilitator (P-012-0045)
- Facilitator Training Course (P-012-0075)
- Nuclear Instruction Qualifications (NFAS) (A-661-0108)
- Nuclear Instruction Qualifications (NNPS) (A-661-0109)• Other DoD Service designation (or equivalency) upon approval of the CENSECFOR DOT or
• Completion of a civilian (or commercial) formal course of instruction which has been evaluated and certified as a JIT equivalency by the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC)
• Possess a minimum of three (3) years documented operational security boat experience serving in a Navy Harbor Security Maritime Detachment, USMC Small Craft Company; U.S. Navy Coastal Riverine Forces (CRF) Detachment; U.S. Navy Special Warfare Combatant Crewman (SWCC)
• Proficiency and skill sets to safely plan and deliver group-paced instruction on security boat tactics, techniques, and procedures in both a classroom setting and during underway training evolutions utilizing Safety/Operational Risk Management, Classroom Teaching Fundamentals, Training Requirements and Training Plans, and Training Scenario Scripting
• Possess a minimum of three (3) years documented tactical and leadership experience in a Maritime Environment, proficient in the operation, maintenance, employment of Navy Force Protection boats, and be proficient in the following areas:
• Coxswain Skills:
- Launch and recovery of craft
- Maneuvering in open water and confined spaces
- Underway alongside operations with other vessels up to and including large ocean going vessels
- High speed maneuvering in tactical environment.
- Towing of downed craft in open water and restricted water environments
• Proficiency in maritime navigation to include:
- Solid understanding of maritime navigation to include aids to navigation, rules of the road and plotting geographic coordinates on nautical charts
- Nautical chart reading
- Navigate by dead reckoning
- Navigate using coastal piloting
- Navigate using onboard navigational equipment
- Navigate craft at night
• Have an in depth understanding of tactical small boat operations to include:
- Organizing a boat team
- Prepare craft for operations
- Maneuver multiple craft in various formations
- Conduct patrols (day / night)
- Support MIO Operations
- Live fire operations from Navy small craft during day and night.
- Escort Operations
- Perform risk assessments utilizing the ORM process
• Craft Systems and Sub-Systems
- Operation and Maintenance of Craft installed Electronic Navigation systems.
- Operation and Maintenance of hand held, and installed boat, communication equipment and operating systems
• Have experience with logistical movement of small craft and associated gear
- Prepare craft/gear for over the road transits via prime mover & boat trailer
- Prepare a craft/gear for hoisting operations.
• Possess tactical operations planning experience using a military decision-making process; organizational and individual planning; patrol coordination; development and issuance of a concept of operations, warning, and patrol; and mission debriefing
• (2) of the Instructors must have an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic certification (VA and NC).
