Job Description
On-site Training Manager and customer/vendor POC Ensures minimum number of SFIs are scheduled to meet required minimum 1:6 instructor to student ratio for each session
Ensures sufficient inventory on-hand at training site to support monthly scheduled sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Expected to maintain positive control of training environment from the moment students arrive to the moment they depart the training site. Expected to verify student identification via issued weapon serial number and Government/employer credentials by visual inspection prior to training commencing, to ensure program security. Conduct classroom, dry-fire, and live-fire training venues in a safe and efficient manner, within the allotted 4-hour session time limit. Design and conduct
student specific remedial training exercises for students who fail to successfully re-qualify on their first attempt to do so. The LFI must utilize observed shooting techniques, target shot patterns, and past experience to identify the problem and correct it prior to additional student attempt to re-qualify. Failure of a student to re-qualify also means that an authorized FAMS Representative and/or LFI takes custody of the unloaded weapon, transport device, credential and other equipment for return to TSA/FAMS. If no authorized FAMS representative is present to receive the equipment, the LFI shall make immediate verbal notification to the FFDO Program Office in order for the appropriate arrangements to be made. Ensure proper scoring of targets, completion of applicable administrative forms, and collection of training data. Keep all Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information (SPII) secured appropriately both during and after a re-qualification session in compliance with the TSA MD 2100.2, Privacy and Information Collection Policy and TSA MD 1400.3 TSA Information Security Policy.
Oversee time keeping of all SFI labor hours. Comply with internal compliance training events.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Current or former federal law enforcement agent, officer, or civilian employee having completed a recognized Federal firearms instructor training program deemed acceptable by the TSA/FAMS. Examples of recognized Federal firearms instructor training programs include, but are not limited to, the FLETC Firearms Instructor Training program (FITP), FAMS FITP, FBI/DEA FITP, and the United States Postal Inspectors FITP. Must possess the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate law enforcement training concepts and issues to a diverse audience.
Must possess the demonstrated ability to instruct in accordance with the principles of basic adult education, as well as platform and practical area instruction for law enforcement.
Must have the ability to interpret, apply, and adhere to established program policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and lesson plans.
7 years of firearms training experience.
Part-Time position (Less than 1,000 hours annually)
Must be a US Citizen and possess a valid driver’s license.
