Investigations Lead, Global Compliance and Ethics

I. Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Vice President, Global Compliance and Ethics, this position will manage global internal investigations and the enterprise’s global investigation protocol, as well as special projects as assigned. The position will work closely with the Legal, Internal Audit, Human Resources, and Security Departments as well as outside counsel and other functional business areas on a regular basis. The Investigations Lead, GC&E will work closely with corporate functions and business units to adequately address issues requiring investigation, including fact-finding, the issuance of recommendations, and follow-through on Responsive Action Plans.

II. Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, and conduct confidential investigations into a wide range of issues, specifically in
support of the Company's corporate policies and global compliance program, including theft, fraud, conflict of interest, bribery and corruption, employee misconduct, cybercrime, and intellectual property misappropriation.
• Lead highly sensitive investigations, including but not limited to those involving potential violations of federal law, regulatory non-compliance, and senior executive involvement.
• Produce written investigation reports and brief senior management on investigative findings.
• Investigate and analyze data gathered from several different sources both internal and external, liaise with various internal stakeholders, business units, and law enforcement agencies on a regular basis.
• Develop and document standards for measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the investigations program, including the development of related metrics and key performance indicators.
• At the direction of the VP, GC&E, report to the General Counsel, CEO, Audit Committee and/or Board of Directors on matters of investigative importance and/or findings.
• Provide testimony in criminal and civil cases when required, and coordinate with internal resources when responding to a subpoena or an official request.
• Directly manage the investigation activities of regional GC&E investigations personnel across Harsco business units and operating regions.
• Identify, develop, implement and maintain Company investigative processes across all business units to reduce risk and limit liability exposure.
• Draft and/or update global investigation policies, procedures, guidelines, standards and best practices, evaluating enterprise-wide effectiveness and adherence to those measures.
• Manage and monitor completion of Responsive Action Plans resulting from corporate investigations, coordinating internal and outside resources as necessary.
• Special projects as assigned.

III. Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Demonstrated ability to guide workplace investigations, analyze facts, reach conclusions, make recommendations, and resolve conflicts
• Demonstrated superior judgment, leadership, conflict resolution, and interview and interrogation skills
• Demonstrated superior ability to direct, coordinate, and provide direction to multiple investigators in all manners of investigations
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with outside investigators, executive security staff, company managers, and other company employees, clients, vendors, law enforcement, and customers (as may be necessary for the completion of assigned duties)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with diverse groups of individuals and at all levels of an enterprise
• Possesses computer skills necessary for analyzing and assessing information, writing reports, charting case progress and department performance, interdepartmental communication, and ensuring records management and privacy
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated self-motivation, ability to work with minimal direction, ability to multitask, and strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
• Has a proven track record in conducting complex investigations
• Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
