Job Description
The Vail Mountain Security Manager will provide leadership, direction, and management for the Vail Mountain Security department which operates on a 24/7/365 basis. Vail Security frequently responds to guest related needs, emergency situations, potential criminal activity, and safety concerns. As a member of the Resort Operations leadership team, this individual will promote an environment which reflects the company’s mission, values and service mantra.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the Security team, the Communications Center team and the employee / guest shuttle team.
Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external guest issues, request and concerns.

Respond to emergency situations in a prompt, professional manner recognizing these situations may be traumatic and / or stressful.
Develop and maintain relationships with local, state and federal agencies and departments as they relate to law enforcement, public safety, emergency preparedness and fire life safety.
Build, maintain and develop a strong team of individuals committed to guest service and loss prevention.
Promote an investigative / learning atmosphere around incidents of any nature, especially those related to criminal activity.
Exhibit a high degree of independent responsibility in management of time and behaviors.
Partner with operation managers in the development and maintenance of training programs and standards for emergency situations.
Develop and focus on department specific policies and procedure guidelines as well as corporate standards related to Health and Safety.
Partner with Mt Ops financial team to develop and manage the annual operating budget as well as department specific capital projects.
Stay current with industry trends for department specific operations through continuing education, participation in best practice groups and outside resources.
Foster and maintain relationships with all departments throughout our company and community partners to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Promote a safe, productive and enjoyable work environment.
Foster a culture of innovations within your department and the larger Resort Ops team.
Oversee and participate in the Human Resource aspect for all team members; i.e. performance management, goal setting, payroll, housing, etc.

Qualifications:
1 year or more in security or related field, resort environment strongly preferred
Level 6 or higher skier or snowboarder
Valid driver's license
CPR and First Aid certifications
High School graduate or equivalent
Proficient in MSOffice
Vail Mountain, Vail Resorts experience preferred
2 or more years supervising medium sized team.
