Position Summary

Virgin Galactic (VG) www.VirginGalactic.com is seeking a Security Specialist working with the Virgin Galactic’s Chief of Security and the Safety Team. The individual will be accountable for physical security support, assist with the Corporate Emergency Response Plans (ERP), building and enforcing general security policies and procedures, and threat analysis. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s aerospace facility in Mojave, California with the potential to transfer to Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Responsibilities:

Assists in reporting and managing security and emergency response procedures at multiple buildings and off-site campus facilities for protecting Spaceline customers, personnel and assets from any act of unlawful interference or related unlawful act.
Administratively maintain site security access control systems and multi-modal emergency notification system.
Completes appropriate notification and documentation for security related incidents and investigates root cause.
Perform risk analysis, threat assessment and counter measures associated with an operational security program.
Provide corporate direction on security measures required, and best practices, while assuring compliance with regulatory requirements of evolving operations.
Provides assistance in implementing the Galactic Ventures Corporate Security Plan which contains: policies, procedures, organization, notification, communication, command and control, and initial response.
In cooperation with emergency response team post holders, continuously improve the design and management of the Virgin Galactic emergency response framework.
Supports the Family Assistance Team and other stakeholders with flight day coordination and planning.
Provides assistance for an internal audit system for both emergency preparedness and security programs.
In conjunction with the Virgin Galactic Safety Team, assist in maintaining a proactive annual safety and security plans that provide solutions necessary to build and sustain a world‐class safety and security culture

Qualifications:

The ability to recognize hazardous or potential security problems impacting operations.
Ability to coordinate and liaise multiple activities with a culturally diverse audience and throughout all levels of the corporate organization.
Recognized qualifications or certification in one, or more of the following areas: Dangerous Goods certification / Investigations / Internal Evaluation Programs / Audit / Security Risk Management / Training / Explosives Program.
2+ years of experience in corporate security, aviation security, military police or special operations.
2+ years of experience in US DoD classified programs.
Ability to work a flexible schedule outside the normal business days and hours to support operations or special events.
Ability to respond to serious emergency situations, but 24/7 on‐call is not required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software applications.
Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to develop and deliver articulate presentations to groups of all sizes and levels; technical writing experience preferred.
Must be a “U.S. person” as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).

Suggestions for Education/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, criminal justice, emergency management or equivalent work experience highly desired.
High school diploma or GED required.
Certifications or similar within security or emergency management is beneficial (i.e. Threat Management, ICS, NIMS).

Preferred Skills and Experience
2+ years of aviation security experience (desired).
2+ years of experience in emergency management or emergency operations centers (desired).
Experience with start-up programs (desired).
Experience in ATF policies, procedures and programs (desired).
Knowledge and experience with security systems such as access control and closed circuit television.
Experience in transportation security (desired).

Physical and/or Additional Requirements
Must be able to work flexible hours outside of normal business hours.
Must be able to stand for extended periods.
Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces.
Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs (unassisted).



ITAR Requirements
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
