The Installation Security Specialist works daily with Soldiers, Government Employees, and Contractors in providing customer service. The Security Specialist routinely reviews and processes various security forms and uses many different government and commercial programs to complete daily tasks. The Security Specialist follows clearly details specific procedures in completing several repetitive clerical steps performed in a prescribed or slight varied sequence.
Responsibilities, Duties, and Tasks:
• Administratively review and process security forms
• Conduct security checks through the (JPAS), Security Investigative Index (SII), the Army Central Clearance Facility (ACCF), COPS, EDAS, e-TOPMIS, Security Clearance Access Rosters (SCAR) databases
• Submit appropriate investigations as required by Chief, Installation Security Office
• Prepare, manage, and update security rosters and internal databases
• Assist personnel in completion of the Personnel Security Investigation Portal (PSIP)
• Assist personnel in completion of Deployment and Reconstitution Tracking Software (DARTS)
• Perform fingerprinting using either the Digit 10 Identicator system or the Identix Touch Print system (Live Scan)
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 21 years old
Necessary Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• Must have the ability to work at an accelerated pace
• Proven customer service skills
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel
• Must be proficient in MS Office Suite
• Must have working knowledge of Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS)
Licensing and Certification:
• Possess a valid driver’s license
Other:
• Must possess a valid, current Secret security clearance
• Meet the requirements to drive on Fort Carson.
• No DUI Offenses
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, stand, and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to bend, turn, crawl, pull, and walk. The employee will have to maneuver around physical barriers to include climbing under and over obstacles. The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds with the occasional heavier objects. The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety eyewear, back support, reflective vest, etc. Specific vision abilities requirement by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office setting with frequent outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office or moderately loud when in the field.
