Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gunsmith I is responsible to: perform detailed assembly and disassembly of foreign and domestic small arms weapons including t small arms inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs. This employee possesses knowledge of the tools (i.e. hammers, punches, files, stones, etc.) and
gauges needed to perform assigned duties, has limited knowledge in the operation of gun-smiting machinery such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, etc., as well as limited knowledge of tooling used with those machines. The Gunsmith I has knowledge of basic shop safety procedures needed to work in a small arms environment, performs support functions for the shop, to include bead blasting and preparing metal parts for refinishing. Other support functions include, but are not limited to, ammo inventory and residue turn-in, publication and catalogue updates, tool and capital equipment maintenance, calibration control, weapons cleaning and organizational level weapons maintenance. This person may assist primary instructor in conducting Armorer’s courses on specific small arms systems.

Additional Personnel Qualification Requirements for Arms Room Support Personnel:
Contractor personnel serving as key custodians, unit armorers, and ammunition
specialists, must have and hold a SECRET clearance and pass a local security screening. The COR shall be provided with proof of this local screening and clearance before CAC Cards will be issued. In addition to holding a SECRET clearance and passing a local security screening, the
above mentioned Contractor personnel shall be able to maintain the necessary training (on-line and in class) within 5 days of award.
Demonstrate advance knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and
Outlook.
1.6.12.8.3 Be familiar with all categories of US military small arms required for this position
(M16, M9, M249, M240B, M2 M4). To include cleaning procedures, chemical storage
procedures, HAZCOM and correcting weapons malfunctions.
1.6.12.8.4 Be familiar with usage and operation of an arms room and its security systems and
access controls IAW AR 190-11
1.6.12.8.5 Possess a civilian driver’s license; a commercial driver’s license as required within 30
days of award.
1.6.12.8.6 Obtain mentioned license/certifications, including HAZMAT and Ammo Handler’s
Course, within thirty (30) days after employment without any additional cost to the Government.
To include all necessary licenses and certifications necessary to access and perform duties as
ammunition handler in the TFM Ammunition Holding Area (AHA) at the Fort Jackson ASP
IAW Ft Jackson Physical Security Department and all applicable regulations.
Additional Position Information:
Contractor personnel serving as key custodians, unit armorers, and ammunition
specialists, must have and hold a secret clearance and pass a local security screening. The COR
shall be provided with proof of this local screening and clearance before CAC Cards will be
issued. In addition to holding a secret clearance and passing a local security screening, the above
mentioned Contractor personnel shall be able to obtain and maintain the necessary training (online
and in class) within 5 days of award.
Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and
Outlook.
Be able to lift 60 pounds over their shoulders repeatedly.
Possess a civilian driver’s license (to include CDL), certification in transporting
hazardous material, hazardous communication, field sanitation, and environmental compliance.
In addition to regular duties, designate at least 1 alternate Ammunition Support
Personnel, who will obtain mentioned license/certifications, including HAZMAT and Ammo
Handler’s Course, within thirty (30) days after employment without any additional cost to the
Government.
Possess knowledge of GPC card and supply ordering procedures.
Be able to demonstrate knowledge of Key Control procedures.
Possess knowledge of company supply procedures to include laundry pickup and
turn-in, inventories, hand receipts and food service procedures.
Be able to perform tasks and demonstrate thorough knowledge of applicable Army
Regulations, federal statutory guidelines, Army Field and Technical Manuals, Fort Jackson
Supplemental regulations, and 171st BDE and TFM Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
